As a R&T Project Lead Subsurface, employee shall perform his/her activities in compliance with the HSE Management System, aligned with One Maestro Principles and oriented to safeguard the integrity of people, bearing in mind to preserve the environment and resources by contributing to improve our energy efficiency and decarbonization of Company’s assets and reputation.
- Coordinate and steer R&D programs related to technologies selected by TotalEnergies HQ and TEPBR to support Exploration & Production needs. These technologies span all Geoscience domains—Geophysics, Geology, and Reservoir—across both Oil & Gas and Energy Transition applications, primarily reservoir for CO2 storage application.
- Act as affiliate technical focal point for CCS geoscience topics. ensuring integration across Geology, Geophysics and Reservoir disciplines.
- Review, challenge and validate key technical deliverables related to CCS studies and pilots, and provide expertise and coaching to asset teams, ensuring robustness and consistency of CCS subsurface studies.
- Ensure effective interaction with TotalEnergies’ global R&D network, including participation in evaluation and qualification activities, and maintaining strong alignment with OneTech R&D/ TL / SRTP teams and associated programs.
- Lead R&D Program in CCS Geosciences: Identify, propose and steer R&D projects addressing CCS subsurface challenges, and manage the execution of R&D projects, ensuring technical quality and relevance, alignment with business priorities, effective transfer of results to operational teams. Maintain strong interaction with OneTech R&D, Houston CDR, and research partners, ensuring alignment with global technology programs.
- Interface with SGIs, Assets and Partners: work in close coordination with SGI Geology, Geophysics and Reservoir, ensuring alignment with
- Company technical referential and best practices. Support asset teams in integrating CCS into subsurface evaluations and development studies. Contribute to aligned technical positioning with partners (e.g. Petrobras) on CCS-related topics
- Identify, propose, and develop R&D collaborations and projects with universities, laboratories, research institutes, and suppliers, ensuring strong alignment with TotalEnergies’ strategic priorities. This includes scouting and maturing innovative concepts that respond to future business challenges in the relevant technology areas with focus on strategic pilot deployment.
- Justify and support the submission of new project proposals, and annually assess ongoing projects for continued funding, based on technical content, quality of deliverables, and alignment with R&D objectives. Contribute to budget preparation and to the development of funding application dossiers (i.e EMBRAPII).
- Manage the execution of operated projects, ensuring delivery on time, within approved budgets, and with effective communication of results to relevant stakeholders. Produce timely and high-quality R&D reports, including meeting summaries, conference syntheses, technical notes, work proposals, and project execution plans.
- Maintain a proactive and constructive collaboration with Petrobras across all STCA-related activities, including new initiatives, R&D projects, and knowledge-sharing efforts.
- Monitor external technology developments emerging from competitors, vendors, and academia, and ensure that TotalEnergies R&D leadership is informed of their relevance and potential impact. Monitor emerging CCS geoscience technologies and methodologies, assess their applicability to TEP-Brazil portfolio, promote their evaluation and deployment via R&D or pilot projects
- Share Knowledge and develop capability: contribute to development of CCS geoscience competencies within the affiliate. Support training, knowledge sharing and dissemination of best practices. Facilitate communication between R&D, assets and technical communities.
Accountabilities:
· Maintain full compliance with TTE’s procedures and alignment on its interests and long-term vision.
· Guarantee project execution as validated by R&D Director and main stakeholders.
· Maintain project compliance with ANP R&D regulation.
Education: PhD preferred, or MSc in Geology, Geophysics, or a closely related Geoscience discipline.
· Professional experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in R&D E&P and/or Project Management with focus on Geosciences activities. As the position spans Geophysics, Geology, and Reservoir topics, prior experience within an Exploration or Asset Geoscience team is essential and energy transition domains like CCS related work.
· Demonstrated strong analytical capability, along with excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), organizational, and presentation skills.
· Portuguese and English language skills are mandatory / French is a plus.
