Context & Environment

TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) and its affiliates are expanding rapidly in support of the company’s transition to power, driven by the acquisition of a diverse portfolio of energy assets—from renewables such as wind and solar to batteries and CCGTs. For the trading organization, this growth brings higher trading volumes, a broader geographical footprint, and an urgent need for process automation, all of which significantly impact IT systems and support requirements.

The Business Analyst will be integrated into the Gas Operations, Front Office Tools, and Trade Monitoring feature teams, with a primary focus on supporting schedulers, traders, and trading‑support functions in Houston. The role involves addressing day‑to‑day operational issues, investigating root causes, and coordinating with IT teams to deliver effective solutions. It requires strong involvement in production support, incident analysis, and continuous improvement of business‑critical applications, working closely with both business users and IT delivery teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and scalable solutions.

Activiteiten

In this role, you will own the support and evolution of the proprietary software modules for Gas Operations, Front Office, and other related tools assigned. Primary duties include providing hands-on day-to-day application support and translating business needs into clear business and functional requirements for development teams and third-party system providers. You will also work with local and global development and functional teams on application releases and daily issues. You will contribute to the identification and implementation of system solutions addressing operational and business needs. You will be the primary business partner in your scope to champion local business needs. You will also help build team knowledge around your perimeter by producing high-quality documentation and knowledge transfer. This role will also actively participate in testing, quality assurance, and delivery activities related to trading applications.


You will act as the primary interface between business users and software engineering teams or third‑party system providers, translating business needs into clear requirements and contributing to the delivery of effective solutions. Ensure the quality of deliverables, confirm that business expectations are met, and provide ongoing support to users across the organization.

Business Analysis & Solutions Design

  • Act as an interface to the business and ensure an understanding of the business objectives and priorities, and be proactive in proposing value-adding solutions to the business
  • Work closely with business users to define, document and validate business and functional requirements, ensuring consistency with the overall Trading IT systems landscape and strategy
  • Work with the technical team globally, including software/application engineers, on solutions design and delivery and be a champion for local needs
  • Contribute to the definition, coordination and execution of testing activities, including acceptance criteria, user validation and functional compliance with specifications and IT control frameworks
  • Work closely with BA’s and other IT resources from across the Trading IT organization to ensure consistency and alignment
  • Contribute to delivery planning, backlog prioritization and roadmap discussions within the feature team
  • Ensuring team core values, global strategy, and cybersecurity is carried out with diligence

Service Delivery & Support

  • Provide high-quality user support to Gas operations, front office and trading support teams, investigating incidents, analyzing root causes and coordinating resolution with internal IT teams and third-party providers
  • Proactively contribute to incident and problem management processes, ensuring timely resolution, clear communication and minimal business disruption
  • Prepare and contribute to project plans and change initiatives, supporting the implementation of enhancements and new functionalities
  • Liaise with the business on all aspects of service delivery and promote IT solutions delivered
  • Timely clarify priority and raise risks in your perimeter to ensure adequate management visibility
  • Manage and maintain a backlog of change and support requirements, assisting in their prioritization and delivery

Profiel kandidaat

  • 5+ years of experience in trading or similarly complex, fast‑paced environments, working as a Business Analyst supporting critical systems and software projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously, operate effectively under pressure, and communicate clearly with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments, including requirements engineering, backlog management, and iterative delivery.
  • Strong interest in IT and technology, with hands‑on experience in application support, software delivery, and production environments.
  • Solid understanding of front‑to‑back application flows, production‑support processes, and the lifecycle of business‑critical systems.
  • Experience with power, gas, and NGL commodities and trading‑related vendor applications highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the trading lifecycle and support methodologies within a global team structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of core topics and drive results end‑to‑end.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT, technology, or engineering discipline.
  • Fluent in English; French proficiency is an advantage.
