Job Dimension

As a key part of TotalEnergies’ renewables energy growth ambition of 35GW of  by 2025 and 100GW by 2030, the Offshore Wind team is expanding to deliver on a growing project portfolio across the globe.

The BOP Engineer is an essential part of the Technical and Contractor management (TCM) team and works with the rest of the TCM team to ensure maximization of the output of the windfarm. 

The position will be based in Taipei, Taiwan and will include frequent site visits   to Budai and offshore. In addition, infrequent travel to the head office in Paris or other locations should be expected.


Activities

The BOP engineer is the primary engineer for managing all contractors, works and monitoring the performance and reliability of the balance of plant equipment on the Yunlin offshore wind farm

The BOP Engineer Is responsible for:

HSE management:

-    Manage the HSE interface towards the BOP contractor(s) and work with the HSE manager to implement improvement actions with the BOP contractor(s) to continuously improve on HSE

-    Participate in regular HSE interface meetings with the BOP Contractor(s) and follow up on agreed actions.

-    Perform HSE site inspections and ensure the contractors perform according to employer HSE guidelines.

Performance management

-    Monitor the performance and condition of all BOP related equipment.

-    Ensure that planned preventive maintenance and inspections on BOP equipment is executed in accordance with the owner, OEM and statutory requirements

-    Review and validate the service cases raised by BOP contractors, ensuring that items are bundled into campaigns wherever possible to minimize cost and schedule impact of executing remedial works.

-    Work with the BOP contractor(s) to optimize the short and long term planning to minimize impact on other operations in the wind farm as well as potential production impacts.

-    Perform root cause analysis on BOP related incidents in collaboration with the Planning and Performance Engineer. Identify remedial actions and raise potential claims towards contractors based on findings.

-    Liiaise with technical expert support in HQ on in-depth technical investigations and root-cause analysis

Work management

-    Review and approve all Permit To Work submitted for work on BOP equipment and on associated systems.

-    Review and validate the work plans submitted by the BOP contractor(s)

-    Monitor the work scopes executed by the BOP Contractor and ensure that the BOP contractor logs these correctly using the CMIMS system to create a log of all activities executed by the BOP contractor with all relevant details. 

Contractor management

-    Act as the day-to-day contract manager for any contracts related to BOP scope.

-    Work with management to define and review BOP strategy on a regular basis to ensure the employed BOP Strategy ensures the safe and efficient operation of the wind farm and maximizes value for YWPC.

-    Ensure that the the wind farm  receives the contractual services as stipulated in the contracts.

-    Support, provide input and advice to higher management on strategic contractual negotiations with the BOP contractor(s)

-    Monitor and follow up on open claims towards the BOP contractor(s), i.e. warranty items, serial defects and any other contractual claims.

Electrical Operations 

-    When required, act as Senior authorized Person for any electrical activity being executed within the wind farm and ensure that all personnel working on tasks involving electrical hazards have the required skill level and are given the required instructions and induction for the work they need to perform 

-    Support the planning and supervision of electrical operations on HV equipment within the wind farm responsibility. 

-    When required, draft/review Switching Schedules (SS) and other related documents 

-    When required, support the appointment of APs and ESPs for the wind farm and ensuring they are kept up to date on any changes to electrical equipment or any downgraded situations related to electrical equipment.  

Support the general activities in the operations of the wind farm as per the instructions of the Operations Manager or general manager. 

Accountability

-    Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the BOP equipment and ensures equipment is kept in nominal condition.

-    Manage the work performed by BOP contractor(s) in coordination with WTG and IOC engineers.

-    Contractual management of BOP contractor(s)

Profiel kandidaat

Profile Required

Electrical Engineering background with at least 5 years of operational experience working with electrical engineering. Preferably previous experience operating wind farm BOP Equipment and offshore equipment.

Experience with management of strategic contractors.

Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands

Team player

Curiosity, accuracy and rigor

Good Presentation / interpersonal skills

Flexible mindset, able to work outside comfort zone.

Fluent in English, Mandarin language skills is a plus but not a must.
