Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years’ of work experience in a power utility or trading environment
• Preference is for a Data Scientist, Optimization Expert or Quantitative Analyst with a proficiency in software development, that is looking for a team leader role
• Knowledge of data and analytics, including AI/ML technologies, and their application for the power trading business
• Training and experience of agile and project management methodologies
• Educated to at least Masters degree level or an equivalent in mathematics, statistics, computer science or a similar discipline
• Fluent in English; competency in French is advantageous

Key Responsibilities / Objectives

Strategic Focus

• Review the ongoing initiatives within the power analytics scope against the requirements of the business
• Prepare a roadmap to address the business requirements, which should include a target for market leading technologies to support the energy optimization and forecasting at asset and portfolio levels, and a focus on automated/algorithmic trading for the Short-Term/Intraday markets
• Design the architecture to address the above, and identify the underlying technologies
• Plan and execute a series of projects to address the defined plans

General Tasks

• Supervise a team of 6-10 persons, approve their time reports, absences, holidays, etc
• Ensure the appropriate staffing of your team according to Trading IT guidelines, which shall include both internal and contract resources
• Plan and report the activities of your team, manage your delivery team backlog and prioritize activities according to IT and business inputs
• Act as a third line support for issues affecting systems in your perimeter, ensure availability and aim to resolve all incidents according to the agreed service levels
• Coordinate configuration and change requests, as requested by business stakeholders
• Work closely and cooperate with other delivery teams from within Trading IT and with the relevant front office teams
• Enforce governance and standards, including project approvals, technology standards, testing and quality assurance, and so on
• Stay informed of market/technology developments relevant to the scope of work

In this role, you will be responsible for a delivery team of 6-10 persons and the management and development of a portfolio of systems used within the gas and power trading businesses.  The systems scope includes the data, advanced analytics, algo/auto trader, optimization and forecasting platforms used globally within the power trading business, but you will be expected to work closely with other delivery teams for the integration of systems and to contribute to run and change activities across teams.   To support the continued expansion of the gas and power business, and particularly TotalEnergies transition to power, there is a significant change program in progress that you will be expected to contribute to. 

You will report to the Manager of Energy Management Systems, Gas & Power Trading IT.
