Activiteiten

What You Bring: 

  • BS Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • 10+ years of progressive responsible experience in the petrochemical process control, instrumentation, electrical, computer networking, and process operation fields.
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus
  • Wide range of equipment specific process control and safety systems hardware and software.
  • Knowledge and experience in ANSI, NEC, NESC and OSHA 1910 standards as they apply to electrical equipment and safe work practices.  
  • Experience in the design and trouble-shooting of electrical switchgear and controls for voltages from 480 VAC to 69,000 VAC.
  • Competent in the use of computer systems with specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication skills requiring daily interface with many disciplines within the refinery, with special emphasis on the ability to successfully communicate technical electrical issues to non-electrical personnel in order to assist them in making sound and safe decisions.
  • This position requires that the individual carry a phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   Prompt response is critical.  

Profiel kandidaat

  • Directs strategic planning and execution of electrical and instrumentation engineering initiatives, managing a $6–$7 million operating budget and overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, specialists, and contractors to ensure platform-wide reliability and compliance.
  • Provides leadership for critical control systems and electrical infrastructure, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Shutdown Systems (SIS), instrumentation, and power distribution networks, safeguarding operational continuity and regulatory adherence for a $100M+ electrical distribution system.
  • Serves as Management of Change (MOC) steward and Planning Section Chief, ensuring rigorous governance of process safety and reliability standards across all engineering activities.
  • Co-champions digital transformation initiatives, driving modernization of control systems and integration of advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency and predictive maintenance capabilities.
  • Establishes and enforces engineering standards for electrical and control systems, ensuring consistency, robustness, and maintainability across all installations and capital projects.
  • Leads design, selection, configuration, and lifecycle management of electrical and control systems, applying advanced engineering principles to optimize unit operations, minimize environmental excursions, and prevent safety incidents.
  • Provides technical oversight and consultation for capital and expense projects, ensuring quality installations that meet platform standards and regulatory requirements, often serving as E/I Superintendent for major projects.
  • Drives compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and MOC programs, leading HAZOP reviews, incident investigations, and risk assessments to identify improvement opportunities and mitigate operational hazards.
  • Develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, leveraging performance analytics to sustain high reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Manages external vendor operations for specialized engineering services, enforcing compliance with ANSI, NEC, NESC, and OSHA standards to ensure integrity and safety of critical systems.
  • Leads workforce development initiatives, including recruitment, cross-training, and technical mentoring, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Allocates resources strategically to maintain maximum reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems, balancing competing priorities across maintenance, capital projects, and turnaround activities
