You are someone who possesses the following experience and credentials:

  • A Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analysis, Machine Learning or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in data science, with a focus on data analysis and machine learning model development, or data monitoring system implementation.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Energy Trading Firm or 2 years of experience in compliance role.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, coding and modeling tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with Python statistical analysis packages.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing new compliance monitoring systems.
  • Expertise in data anomaly detection and statistical modeling technique.
  • Strong experience with database queries and data manipulation.
  • Experience in the energy trading or financial markets is preferred.
  • Experience in a Market Compliance role or an equivalent market compliance role at an exchange, ISO/RTO, or governmental regulatory oversight body is a plus.
  • Working understanding of Energy markets and products (Natural Gas, Power, Liquefied Natural Gas, Renewables); experience with day-to-day operations, risk management and trading practices used in the industry and how such trading activities may interact to create the appearance of market manipulation or other market rule violations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the CFTC’s Division of Enforcement and the FERC’s Office of Enforcement and their views on market manipulation is preferred.
  • Ability to transform and analyze large data sets with a focus on the details and interconnected relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize job requirements in a high pressure, multi-tasking environment, strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work across the organization to balance market compliance requirements with commercial opportunities and business objectives.
  • Must be self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic trading organization under pressure of tight deadlines and aggressive expectations.
  • Excellent Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with industry tools and technologies. (Power BI/ Python/ SQL/ CubeWatch/Spotfire/Nasdaq SMARTS/K3 Broadpeak/ Whistler/Telemessage/ Fairwords/MS Power Query/Alteryx)

Activiteiten

Works at the direction of the Market Compliance Director to build and maintain a robust data and analytics capability to deliver market compliance objectives.

Main responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Senior Market Compliance Analyst and Senior Regulatory Advisor to identify and enable priority compliance monitoring screens.
  • Enable access to data (market data, exchange data, orders, transactions, assets, communications, positions) and fundamental data (market fundamentals, demand/supply, and trends) to support analysis functions.
  • Develop and design data strategies to quickly assimilate both structured and unstructured data for analysis.
  • Provide leadership to the team for quantitative, regression and probabilistic market compliance analytic screen designs.
  • Coordinate with US IT team and Geneva IT team to develop and implement market compliance monitoring tools.
  • Coordinate with operational compliance team to keep improve the PowerBI position limit monitoring production tool.
  • Support longer-term evolution from pre-configured market compliance screens to augmenting with AI/ML data-driven detection.
  • Review and interrogate AI or Machine Learning strategies used for trading.
  • Work with the Senior Market Monitoring Analyst to design and conduct ad hoc unstructured data analysis to probe and test data design and identify new trading pattern anomalies and potential new compliance screens.
  • Assist the Market Compliance Director to develop and implement the required control process for company’s comprehensive monitoring and surveillance program.
  • Supports Market Compliance and Legal with Internal Audit and Regulatory Inquires/investigations.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy machine learning algorithms to solve false positive alert and other complex business challenges.
  • Implement data anomaly detection systems to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Conduct in-depth statistical analysis and modeling to extract actionable insights.
  • Create compelling data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Utilize Python, java, c++, or other language tools for development tasks and database queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data.
  • Collaborate with different teams and communicate complex data insights in a clear and effective manner.
  • Develop other market compliance monitoring and training tools as needed.
