About the Role

The Interconnection Manager plays a critical role in leading all transmission and interconnection activities for solar, wind, load, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the United States. This position supports both greenfield development and acquisition due diligence by evaluating interconnection risks, managing queue positions, and guiding projects through ISO/RTO processes.

Based in Texas and reporting to the Director of Transmission & Interconnection, this role partners closely with internal teams, consultants, utilities, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful and timely grid integration of renewable energy assets.

Activiteiten

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all transmission and interconnection activities for solar, wind, load, and BESS projects across the U.S.
  • Manage interconnection due diligence for acquisitions, identifying risks and opportunities across project portfolios.
  • Oversee projects through ISO/RTO interconnection queue cycles from application through execution.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with grid interconnection requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage complex interconnection and transmission agreements (e.g., IA, ISA, CSA).
  • Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes, working groups, and regulatory discussions to stay current on queue reforms and evolving requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, study results, cost estimates, and schedules related to interconnection activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local grid codes and regulations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross‑functional teams on interconnection processes, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Build and manage relationships with consultants, utilities, and transmission providers.
  • Support additional interconnection‑related initiatives as needed to meet project and organizational goals.

Profiel kandidaat

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in generation interconnection, engineering, transmission planning, generation, transmission analysis, or a related field within the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, grid architecture, and renewable energy technologies.
  • Proficiency in power system modeling and analysis tools such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, PSCAD, and TARA.
  • Solid understanding of RTO/ISO transmission planning and generation interconnection processes for one or more major regions (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, SPP, MISO, SERC, NYISO, WECC, etc.). 
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across teams. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing competing priorities and supporting team initiatives.
