Context & Environment

⚡ Join a Team Building Tomorrow’s Energy Infrastructure

If you’re passionate about technical quality, enjoy being in the field, and want to help deliver some of the most exciting renewable energy projects in the country, we’d love to hear from you.

🌍 Why This Role Matters

As TotalEnergies accelerates development and construction of its U.S. onshore Wind portfolio, strong HSE governance and working‑at‑heights safety leadership are critical. In this role, you will help ensure that complex construction activities—particularly turbine erection and elevated work—are executed safely, compliantly, and efficiently. Your leadership directly protects people, assets, and the long‑term performance of clean energy projects powering communities nationwide.

🌞 Power the Future of Clean Energy with TotalEnergies

TotalEnergies Renewables USA is on an ambitious path to develop, construct, and operate a robust portfolio of onshore Wind projects across the U.S. To support the construction of the Laurel Wind Project, we are seeking an experienced HSE Lead to serve as the Owner’s Representative for Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSE&S) during project execution.

This is a highly visible, field‑based role focused on working‑at‑heights safety and contractor HSE performance. If you are a strong safety leader who enjoys being on site, engaging directly with EPCs and subcontractors, and setting the standard for safe execution, this role offers meaningful impact within a leading global energy company.

Activiteiten

The HSE Lead serves as the Owner’s Representative for Health, Safety, Environment, and Security during construction of the Laurel Wind Project, providing site-based HSE leadership and governance across all project activities. This role ensures compliance with TotalEnergies HSE policies (MAESTRO), contractual requirements, and all applicable regulatory obligations, while actively promoting a strong and proactive safety culture among EPCs and subcontractors. The HSE Lead is responsible for overseeing all HSE aspects of the project, with direct and sustained focus on working-at-heights activities, including turbine erection, tower access, nacelle work, and blade operations. The position requires routine physical access to elevated work areas to verify compliance, assess risk controls, and support the safe execution of work.

💼 What You’ll Do

HSE Leadership & Governance

  • Lead and oversee all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities for wind project construction, with a strong focus on working‑at‑heights safety, including turbine erection, heavy lifts, crane operations, electrical work, and Balance of Plant (BOP) activities

  • Actively promote a proactive and visible safety culture aligned with TotalEnergies’ values: “Safety for me, for you, for all.”

Field Oversight & Site Inspections

  • Perform regular site inspections and field verifications, including work at elevation in turbine towers, nacelles, and other elevated work areas
  • Interface closely with contractors to ensure full alignment with height‑safety procedures, rescue readiness, and safe work practices

Permits, Risk Management & Controls

  • Review, validate, and approve working‑at‑heights permits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), rescue plans, lift plans, and construction method statements
  • Verify proper selection, use, inspection, certification, and maintenance of fall protection systems and rescue equipment

Incident Management, Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead or support incident investigations, including near‑misses related to working at heights; conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Monitor HSE performance indicators (KPIs), track corrective actions, and provide regular reporting to project and regional leadership
  • Support regulatory, OSHA, and environmental compliance requirements applicable to wind construction activities

Training, Engagement & Preparedness

  • Deliver site HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety moments, emergency preparedness drills, and specialized safety training related to working at heights
