The Commercial Analyst operates within Malaysia's upstream oil and gas sector and supports the commercial management of producing and late-life assets. The position combines commercial analysis, contract administration, hydrocarbon sales support, and market intelligence activities, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective stakeholder management.

Actividades

The Commercial Analyst serves as a commercial specialist focused on producing and late-life assets, providing analytical support for contract performance optimization, commercial negotiations, and operational sales activities. This role supports the Head of Commercial in ensuring commercial excellence across TEPMY’s operational portfolio through detailed analysis, market monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.


1. Contract Management & Commercial Support

-    Support administration and monitoring of commercial agreements for producing and late-life assets.

-    Track contractual obligations, key milestones, and performance indicators.

-    Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities within existing contracts.

-    Support preparation of contract performance reports and commercial evaluations.

-    Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with contractual commitments.


2. Documentation & Negotiation Support

-    Assist in drafting, reviewing, and maintaining commercial agreements and supporting documentation.

-    Support negotiation activities by preparing commercial analyses, benchmarking studies, and briefing materials.

-    Maintain commercial records, databases, and contract repositories.

-    Support preparation of management presentations and decision papers.

-    Coordinate with legal and technical teams in contract reviews and amendments.


3. Hydrocarbon Sales & Commercial Operations

-    Support hydrocarbon sales activities for producing assets.

-    Coordinate lifting schedules, tanker nominations, and communications with terminals and buyers.

-    Monitor sales performance and reconcile lifting data.

-    Assist in administration of hydrocarbon sales agreements and related documentation.

-    Support commercial engagement with operational teams to maximize value realization.


4. Market Intelligence & Analysis

-    Monitor LNG, natural gas, condensate, and crude oil market developments.

-    Conduct market research and competitor benchmarking.

-    Support pricing analysis and commercial assessments.

-    Prepare market outlook reports and commercial recommendations.

-    Provide commercial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.


5. Analytical & Reporting Functions

-    Develop and maintain commercial models for pricing analysis, contract evaluation, and performance tracking

-    Perform financial and commercial analysis for business opportunities and asset optimization initiatives.

-    Prepare regular commercial performance reports and dashboards.

-    Support annual budgeting, business planning, and forecasting activities.

-    Contribute to commercial evaluations of projects, investments, and business opportunities.


Perfil del candidato

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, Petroleum Engineering, Energy Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in oil and gas commercial, business, economics, marketing, contracts, commercial operations, or related roles.
  • Experience in upstream oil and gas commercial activities is preferred.
  • Exposure to hydrocarbon sales, contract administration, commercial analysis, or business planning activities is advantageous.

Technical Competencies

  • Understanding of commercial agreements and contract administration principles.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Knowledge of oil, gas, LNG, condensate, and energy markets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working within Malaysia's upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with PETRONAS commercial processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exposure to joint venture arrangements, hydrocarbon sales, gas marketing, or commercial operations.

Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

The Commercial Analyst contributes to commercial decision-making through data-driven insights, commercial evaluations, and market assessments while ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
