As a Weather Data Scientist – Energy Trading (1-year contract), you will join the Weather Modeling & Analysis (WMA) team of TGP, within the Modeling & Analysis for Trading Strategies (MATS) department. Your mission is to create and validate trading signals from in-depth quantitative analysis of weather-related models, supporting power and gas trading activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the existing in-house suite of short and mid-term weather-to-power models for forecasting wind generation, solar generation and net power demand.
  • Contribute to the developments of wind/solar yield models with the ingestion of TotalEnergies assets data.
  • Monitor daily the performance of WMA models to continuously assess the models’ skills and propose new developments for improving their scores.
  • Develop efficient methods to quickly assess the skills of weather models and quantify their impacts on WMA models for power/gas trading activities.
