TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) and its affiliates operate within a large and complex systems landscape that continues to evolve with the expansion of the power trading business and its growing impact on trading IT. This global role focuses on the tools used by gas and power teams and on their integration within the broader trading and risk management systems. The Core Trading Systems and Risk, Reporting & Compliance teams work together to support trading support functions, front‑office teams, and finance by ensuring access to high‑performance, reliable trading and related systems.

Actividades

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive a major transformation program within our Gas & Power Trading IT team. This role sits at the core of a strategic initiative to decommission a legacy in‑house gas nomination platform and build a robust, scalable in‑house ETRM solution aligned with future business needs. You will not only contribute to development but also lead the technical transformation—defining, designing, and building a sustainable target system while ensuring a smooth transition away from legacy platforms. This position requires deep technical leadership, strong architectural vision, and the ability to guide teams through complex system modernization efforts.

Lead the Transformation

  • Take ownership of the end‑to‑end system transition strategy for gas nomination and operations systems.
  • Drive the decommissioning of the legacy platform with minimal business disruption.
  • Lead the migration of functionalities, workflows, and data.

Build the Target Platform

  • Oversee and contribute to the evolution of GeniUS (the in‑house gas nomination system) into a broader operational platform.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Ensure the platform supports key capabilities required for gas operations beyond nominations.

Provide Technical Leadership

  • Act as the technical reference point for developers and project stakeholders.
  • Guide architectural decisions and ensure alignment with long‑term strategy.
  • Establish development standards, best practices, and design principles.
  • Bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

Ensure Business Continuity

  • Guarantee stability of business‑critical nomination and operations processes during the transition.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with system migration.
  • Prioritize delivery to balance short‑term operational needs with long‑term strategy.

Collaborate Globally

  • Partner with Gas Operations teams to understand business priorities.
  • Coordinate with global IT teams (US & Europe) to ensure alignment and avoid duplication.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts, product stakeholders, and leadership.

Accountabilities

Deliver tactical and strategic evolutions or fixes on projects with significant impact on business profitability, in alignment with business constraints. Guarantee the reliability, quality, and security of all implemented changes, ensuring full compliance with internal development standards and the framework defined by or with the Architecture Committee.

Perfil del candidato

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering with strong backend expertise in the .NET framework and C#.
  • Proven experience leading complex system‑transformation initiatives.
  • Strong background in system architecture and solution design.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast‑evolving environments.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive decisions and influence outcomes.
  • Expertise in software development and management, with knowledge across a wide range of technologies including AWS and/or Azure, Oracle, ASP.NET, C#, Web API, web application development, NPM, WPF and MVVM architectures, WCF Services, MS TFS, Git, and object‑oriented design.
  • Degree in IT, computer science, or a related technology or engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of gas nominations, scheduling, or pipeline operations.
  • Fluent in English; French competency is an advantage.

About the company:

TotalEnergies is a multi-energy company that produces and markets energies on a global scale: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables and electricity. Active in more than 130 countries, TotalEnergies puts sustainable development in all its dimensions at the heart of its projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of people.

In such context TGP helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
