Contexto y entorno

Provide process engineering support for safe operation of the Carville site. Responsibilities for the commercial unit include maintaining desired production rates, quality, and optimizing profitability while adhering to high standards of safety, environmental, quality, and good employee relations.

Responsible for process technical support of delegated units 
 
Monitor/track unit performance with outside unit observation, pressure/temperature surveys, Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, DCS Control System, and process simulator software.
 
Troubleshoot and make recommendations for any operating problems that may arise.
 
Coordinate plant trials including acceptance of new raw materials, new product development, and product improvement. 

Actively participates in site programs including implementation of HSSE, availability, asset integrity initiatives, PHA's, project teams and supporting RCAs and 5-why analyses
 
Assist with Turnaround support including planning, coordination, inspection, and failure analysis.

 

Actividades

Responsible for the execution of assigned projects and programs designed to maintain desired rates, improve plant operating efficiency, reduce operating costs, minimize non-prime production, and maintain required standards of safety, housekeeping, product quality, and employee relations. 
 
Provide recommendations and operational alternatives to maximize profitability and operability in given market conditions.
 
Track catalyst performance and provide the technical assistance needed achieve optimum process parameters.
 
Analyze unit transitions to provide optimization feedback to Operations to ultimately reduce transition off grade.
 
Participate in capital project scope development and execute assigned projects
 
Assist in maintenance of technician training materials (Training Manual, Lessons, Quizzes, Certification Test Questions) for the field and board certification process.
 
Assist in implementing, maintaining, and improving a distributed process control scheme to provide improved efficiency and process control.
 
Engineering calculations- (Size orifice plates, control valves, and relief valves, calculate pressure drops, size piping for small projects, perform heat/material balances, size/rate heat exchangers, calculate fluid properties, determine system volumes/residence times)

Perfil del candidato

This position requires a B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and 0 to 5 years' experience in the chemical process industry.  Other engineering degrees will be considered depending on the experience of the individual.
