As part of its ambition to get to net zero by 2050, TotalEnergies is building a world class cost-competitive portfolio combining renewables (solar, onshore and offshore wind) and flexible assets (CCGT, storage) to deliver clean firm power to its customers. By mid-2024, TotalEnergies’ gross renewable electricity generation installed capacity reached 24 GW. TotalEnergies will continue to expand this business to reach 35 GW in 2025 and more than 100 TWh of net electricity production by 2030.


What you will do

Join our New Ventures team within the Power Trading and Origination division at TotalEnergies. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an international, fast-paced trading environment. The team is instrumental in driving the global growth of our power trading activities, aligning with TotalEnergies’ ambitious goals in the power sector:

  • Identify and open new markets with a strong understanding of regulation framework
  • Enhance our expertise and enter new markets through acquisitions (M&A)
  • Monitor the integration of new assets and teams within the power trading perimeter.
  • Develop an internal vision for the future of the power trading entity

As an intern, you will be actively involved in all New Ventures activities and will interact with a diverse range of internal (trading desks, legal, research) and external (consultants, potential partners) stakeholders.

Your internship missions include:

  • Regulatory Monitoring and Analysis:
  • Scan updates and changes in energy trading regulations, policies, and market rules at local, national, and European levels.
  • Summarize regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on trading activities.
  • Propose key actions to adapt the Trading Power strategy to a regulatory change and/or identify business development opportunities and/or implementing measures to mitigate underlying risks 
  • Business Development & new market entry: 
  • Gain an understanding of the Electricity Market Design and regulatory framework (support to renewables and long-term PPA, capacity mechanisms, balancing management,) of a given new European country prospective for Trading Power
  • Prepare all the key documents necessary for entering market entry (licensing procedure, contracts with TSO, exchanges…), supported, when required with external consultants. 
  • Draw out key learnings to support country specific business strategies and commercial to advise originators and traders on commercial opportunities for existing and new regulations
  • Internal coordination & Influence: 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Trading, Legal, Risk, and Compliance) in regulatory projects and initiatives in timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
  • Assist in drafting regulatory internal communication such as flash email, webinar, internal reports 
  • Assist to the public consultation response by preparing responses to national authorities

Perfil del candidato

  • You are enrolled in a Master (Engineering, Business).
  • You are detail-oriented, think critically, and can analyse complex information effectively.
  • Additionally, you approach tasks with rigour, ensuring thoroughness and precision in your work.
  • You possess a business-oriented mindset combined with excellent organizational skills, enabling you to manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • You have basic knowledge of but strong interest in the energy market.
  • You can synthesize complex and technical regulatory information and present it clearly, concisely, and accurately in English. Proficiency in French or another relevant language is a plus.
  • The position requires autonomy, objectivity, innovation, to be resourceful and well organised.

The Trading division in Geneva is responsible for optimising the purchase & sales portfolios of gas, electricity, CO2 emissions, dry bulk, and LNG in all recognised markets worldwide, in compliance with the Company trading guidelines.
In such context, TGP helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
