As our Structural Inspection Engineer, you will have overall responsibility for inspection, assessment, and integrity management of offshore steel structures above water across TotalEnergies EP Denmark’s offshore installations.

 

In this central role within the Inspection team, you will help define inspection scopes, identify optimum inspection schemes, validate site inspection reports, and ensure proper input to the Risk Based Inspection management system.

Key Responsibilities

As a Structural Inspection Engineer, you will hold overall responsibility for the structural inspection program covering primary, secondary, and tertiary steel structures above water, including flares, risers, and caissons on offshore installations. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Define inspection scopes and identify optimum inspection schemes for offshore steel structures above water
  • Conduct detailed planning with the inspection contractor and provide input to planning and scheduling processes
  • Liaise with offshore focal for the execution of inspection activities
  • Work closely with offshore assets, structural design discipline engineers, maintenance, construction, and contractors
  • Ensure HSE onboarding and mobilization of inspection personnel
  • Analyze, validate, and complement reports and ensure structural evaluation of inspection findings
  • Maintain inspection databases and ensure proper input to the Risk Based Inspection management system
  • Define repair or replacement scopes and coordinate proper remediation with maintenance and construction teams
  • Close out notifications and work orders upon completion of inspection and remediation activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of inspection philosophies, strategies, and methodologies
  • Provide input to monthly inspection reporting, including KPI definition in line with affiliate and headquarters requirements
  • Track anomalies and contribute to regulatory derogation processes
  • Participate in and contribute to inspection audits
  • Provide budget input and support cost control of associated inspection activities
  • Offshore visits are expected as part of the role, supporting inspection execution, coordination, and stakeholder collaboration

What are we looking for in a candidate?

  • Solid experience with structural integrity, structural inspection, or integrity management, preferably within offshore steel structures
  • A strong safety mindset and the ability to identify critical tasks, ask the right questions, and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Knowledge of steel degradation mechanisms in offshore environments
  • Knowledge of Risk Based Inspection methodology and non-destructive testing techniques
  • Strong planning, organizing, and follow-up skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, departments, offshore assets, and external vendors
  • A structured, resilient, and independent working style combined with a holistic business understanding
  • Offshore knowledge within rope access and inspection is an advantage
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Competencies within Microsoft office package and SAP is an advantage

Your background and experience

  • A background within structural engineering, mechanical engineering, non-destructive testing inspection, construction management within steel, or another relevant technical discipline
  • Seasoned relevant experience within structural inspection, offshore steel structures, or integrity management
  • Experience with detailed design and assessment of offshore structures would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of degradation of steel in offshore environments, Risk Based Inspection methodology, non-destructive testing techniques, and SAP or CIMS
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant offshore certificates and medical clearance for travelling offshore by helicopter
