Context & Environment

The position operates in a highly regulated environment requiring close engagement with authorities, regulators, community partners and industry stakeholders. The role combines strategic, operational and leadership responsibilities across public affairs, sustainability, corporate citizenship and transformation programmes.

You will work at the intersection of business performance, regulatory compliance and social impact, helping the company anticipate change, influence key discussions and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders. The position also plays a critical role in supporting the regional sustainability roadmap, energy transition initiatives and long-term stakeholder trust.

The role requires strong negotiation skills, political awareness and the ability to create innovative solutions to emerging challenges while balancing business objectives and societal expectations.

Activities

As part of your responsibilities, you will:

  • Lead public affairs and stakeholder engagement activities, developing trusted relationships with government authorities, regulators, industry bodies, community leaders and other key stakeholders to support business objectives and foster constructive dialogue.
  • Drive the Corporate Social Investment (CSI), sustainability and transformation agenda, ensuring the successful implementation of programmes aligned with TotalEnergies Foundation priorities, transformation objectives and ESG commitments.
  • Monitor political, regulatory and societal developments, assess potential impacts on business activities and provide strategic recommendations to leadership teams across South Africa, Namibia and Eswatini.
  • Manage corporate reputation and strategic communications, proactively addressing issues, representing the company in high-level forums and implementing actions that reinforce TotalEnergies' image and influence in the region.
  • Lead and develop the Corporate Affairs and CSI team, managing priorities, resources and an annual budget while ensuring strong governance, compliance and measurable impact across all programmes.
  • Internal Description: You manage a regional Corporate Affairs and CSI scope covering South Africa, Namibia and Eswatini.
  • You lead a team of 3 direct reports and coordinate activities involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • You oversee an annual budget of approximately USD 1.1 million, ensuring optimal resource allocation and governance.
  • You contribute to strategic committees and governance bodies dealing with sustainability, transformation, corporate social investment and public affairs.
  • You represent TotalEnergies in regulatory, industry and public forums, supporting regional business performance and long-term growth.

Candidate Profile

Training

  • Bachelor's Degree (Level 6) or equivalent.
  • Appropriate degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Sustainability, Corporate Affairs, Business or related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Corporate Affairs, Public Affairs, Sustainability, Communications, Stakeholder Engagement or related fields.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment is highly desirable.
  • Previous people management experience would be an advantage.
