Context & Environment

Are you an experienced development engineer with strong expertise in front-end project development and field studies within the oil and gas industry?

 

TotalEnergies EP Malaysia is seeking a Lead Development Engineer (Kenyalang) to drive the maturation of major offshore development projects from feasibility through to pre-project and FEED phases. This role is critical in ensuring integrated, cost-effective, and technically robust development solutions aligned with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Activities

Your Impact

As a Lead Development Engineer, you will:

  • Lead multidisciplinary development studies across feasibility, conceptual, and pre-project phases, ensuring alignment with business strategy and financial objectives.
  • Drive development planning, concept selection, and cost estimation, supporting both greenfield and brownfield projects as well as asset retirement studies.
  • Coordinate closely with subsurface, engineering, operations, commercial, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure optimal project integration and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance, technical standards, and Malaysian regulatory requirements, including PETRONAS standards and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee structured study processes, including Feasibility Peer Assessments and Project Reviews, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage project handovers from pre-project to FEED and execution, ensuring continuity and readiness for downstream phases.

Candidate Profile

What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. BEM).
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in upstream oil and gas, including strong exposure to front-end development and FEED studies.
  • Proven expertise in feasibility studies, concept engineering, development planning, and cost estimation.
  • Solid understanding of PETRONAS standards and Malaysian regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams across complex development projects.
  • Experience in cross-cultural environments and proficiency in digital engineering tools is an advantage.
