The Controlling and Reporting Advisor position is based in Linden, New Jersey within TotalEnergies American Services. This role operates in a complex, multi-entity environment supporting multiple business units including Inland Lubricants, Marine Lubricants and Aviation activities.

The role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting processes while supporting business performance and compliance with accounting standards. It works closely with headquarters, local teams and shared service centers to deliver financial reporting and analysis.

Activities

Key Responsibilities


Controllership

  •  Manage and coordinate the month end closing calendar with department’s managers.
  •  Ensure all financial statements and reporting are accurate and produced on time.
  •  Ensure the integrity of financial reporting processes and lead all accounting activities.
  •  Deliver compliance with relevant accounting standards and industry norms.
  •  Manage accruals and provisions.
  •  Support project management activities.
  •  Manage A/P and A/R teams with focus on working capital and intercompany rebills.
  •  Support internal and external auditors and tax advisors in coordination with the Accounting Manager.
  •  Perform Priority Accounting Controls and MAMBO analysis.
  •  Oversee reallocation cycles.
  •  Perform business unit analysis across logistics, production and administrative functions.
  •  Support ad hoc projects and assist with updating policies and procedures.


Financial Reporting

  •  Provide ad hoc financial reporting to business unit managers across Lubricants, Aviation and Lubmarine.
  •  Enhance existing reporting tools and support automation initiatives including Power BI.
  •  Coordinate preparation of internal and external reporting including US GAAP, tax packages and audit deliverables.
  •  Coordinate tasks with the shared service center in Manila.
  •  Work closely with executive teams to provide reporting and analysis.
  •  Prepare monthly financial packages and KPI reporting for headquarters.


Budget and Forecasting

  •  Collaborate with management to prepare and submit budgets, forecasts and long term planning cycles.
  •  Develop financial presentations and proposals for management review.

Candidate Profile

What We’re Looking For

Strong understanding of financial reporting, IFRS, US GAAP and group accounting principles.
Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Strong teamwork approach and ability to collaborate across functions and levels of the organization.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial reporting or controlling, preferably within the energy industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS with the ability to research and apply standards.
  • Experience working autonomously and influencing without direct authority.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting development of others is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience with SAP and Power BI is a plus. 
  • Additional languages such as Spanish or French are a plus.
