Context & Environment

Within TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping division, the Assets Trading Desk is a key growth component of the European Power Trading activity.

Asset Trading is one of several trading desks, working in close coordination with other power, gas and structured trading teams.

Activities are conducted from Geneva and cover a broad range of energy markets including Power, Gas, Emissions and related products, within an integrated trading environment.

The desk mission is to optimize a growing portfolio of flexible generation assets and procurement contracts across multiple European markets, in coordination with internal stakeholders and asset owners. This is achieved through active participation in power, gas and emissions markets, with the objective of maximizing value and supporting the development of the Company’s energy activities.

You will be part of a small, high-performing team, responsible for developing and implementing optimization strategies across short- and long-term horizons, in close interaction with Operations, Origination and other trading desks.

The portfolio is diversified and expanding, covering multiple geographies and contractual structures, and is evolving in scale and complexity, requiring increasingly advanced optimisation and trading approaches.

Activities

Market expertise

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of European power markets, including market design, price formation, generation stack dynamics andacross market segments
  • Maintain strong awareness of gas and emissions markets and their interactions with power 
  • Monitor capacity mechanisms and ancillary services where relevant 
  • Formulate and express market views to generate value beyond intrinsic asset optimisation, including discretionary positioning 

Asset expertise

  • Build a detailed technical understanding of the asset portfolio 
  • Determineoptimaldispatch strategies considering operational constraints,costsand market conditions 

Modelling & tools

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of analytical and modelling tools 
  • Support the digitalisation of workflows and real-time risk management capabilities 
  • Work closely with Research, Digital and IT teams 

Trading strategy & execution

  • Define and implement trading and hedging strategies aligned with market conditions and asset constraints 
  • Execute trades across power,gasand emissions markets within defined mandates 
  • Contribute to portfolio balancing, riskmanagementand overall trading performance 

Commercial & cross-functional interaction

  • Work with Origination and project teams to support new agreements and portfolio growth 
  • Liaise with Operations and asset owners on short-term optimisation and dispatch decisions 
  • Interact withdiversefunctions (Finance, Middle Office, Back Office, IT, Research) asrequired

Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including REMIT 

Accountabilities

  • Operate within the Company’s trading governance and risk framework 
  • Contribute to the performance of the desk, with both collective responsibility and individual impact 
  • Ensure adherence to HSE rules, Code ofConductand applicable regulations 

You will operate in a highly dynamic and volatile market environment, shaped by evolving energy flows, regulatory developments and the energy transition.

This role offers exposure to a diversified and growing portfolio of flexible generation assets, requiring close interaction between trading, operations and commercial teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Engineering,Financeor equivalent 
  • 7+ years’ experience in European power trading 
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of: 
  • Asset-backed trading and optimisation
  • Power market organisation across several European countries 
  • Power market fundamentals, including generation stack dynamics 
  • Physical and financial trading instruments 
  • Risk management and trading regulations 
  •  Demonstrated ability to develop trading views and translate them into measurable performance 
  • Strong affinity with quantitative tools and modelling approaches (e.g. dispatch models, optionality) 
  • Passionate aboutanalyticsand attention to detail 
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills 
  • Fluent in English;additionalEuropean languages (for instance Italian and/or Dutch) are a plus
