Context & Environment

TEEP Ratawi Hub is an affiliate steering and implementing $14 billion investment in 5-in-1 multi-energy and multi-branch Growth Gas Integrated Project (GGIP) in Basra region of Iraq. GGIP consists of: Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP) – to treat 5Mbwpd of seawater for water injection to oil fields, Associated Gas Upstream Project (AGUP) and Gas Mid-stream Project (GMP) as well as Early Gas AG25 Project– to re-develop the Ratawi oil field and produce 210kbopd at plateau and to treat up to 600 MMscf/d (Phase 1+2) of raw gas otherwise flared to supply LPGs, condensates and dry gas as feedstock for 1.2GW of power generation capacity, growing to 2.4 GW in 2nd phase, Solar Power Plant (APP) – to supply 1GW solar electricity. The combination of the 5 sub projects run in parallel and   at various stages of advancement brings a lot of complexity on the position on top of the Challenging Iraqi context (new country for TotalEnergies as well as having Basra Oil Company (BOC) as both Partner and Regulator) .

The TEPRH Iraq affiliate requires high-quality intelligence to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and support negotiations with authorities and partners.

The role demands strategic vision, strong stakeholder engagement, and ability to manage sensitive information in a multicultural setting.

The role demands adaptability, confidentiality, and cultural awareness when interacting with local stakeholders.

 

Activities

Main Responsibilities

The activities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Strategic Oversight:

  • Contribute to defining and implementing the Market Intelligence roadmap for GGIP and provide analytical input to support business vision in Iraq.
  • Ensure timely delivery of monthly market reports, dashboards, and strategic briefs.
  • Assist with dedicated studies on Iraq for HQ, including Business Reviews for CDEP, COMEX, CEO, etc.

 

Global & Regional Studies:

  • Conduct in-depth analyses for HQ (Paris) and MENA Direction, connecting Iraqi market dynamics to TotalEnergies’ global strategy.
  • Deliver actionable insights on geopolitical, commercial, and energy transition trends.

 

Market & Political Analysis:

  • Monitor Iraqi government changes, policies, and energy strategy; assess implications for GGIP
  • Support Carbon Market Initiatives by collaborating with internal stakeholders, including CFR teams at HQ, to explore and design mechanisms such as carbon credit programs or certificates of origin within Iraq for the GGIP project.
  • Track IOC strategies, OPEC decisions, and global market trends impacting Iraq.

 

Data & Tools Management:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of MI databases and Power BI dashboards.
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and structured dissemination of insights across teams.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation:

  • Maintain relationships with key actors (MoO, SOMO, NOCs, consultants) to secure data and insights.
  • Present studies and simplify complex analyses for senior audiences in internal and external meetings.

Communication:

  • Proactively share relevant updates, challenges, and opportunities to enhance transparency and alignment across teams.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Energy Management, Oil & Gas Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years in market analysis, strategy, or business intelligence within Oil & Gas or Energy sector; prior leadership experience required.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
  • Expertise in BI tools (Power BI/Tableau), data governance, and scenario planning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to operate at senior level and present complex studies in a clear, concise manner.
  • Languages: Arabic & English fluency required; French is a plus.
  • Competencies: Leadership, adaptability, cultural awareness, ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.

The position Business & Market Intelligence Analyst is responsible within the Business & Assets Management Direction for supporting the Market Intelligence function in Iraq, providing strategic insights and data-driven analysis to support decision-making. The role ensures timely delivery of market studies, political and regulatory monitoring, and actionable recommendations aligned with TotalEnergies’ global priorities.

 

Leadership Scope: Support the Market Intelligence function for GGIP in Iraq, delivering strategic insights and data-driven analysis to assist senior management and HQ in decision-making

 

Core Deliverables:

  • Perform market analysis, competitor tracking, and political/regulatory monitoring.
  • Perform to the development of internal and external databases and BI tools for oil & gas sector intelligence.
  • Prepare strategic studies for HQ in Paris and MENA Direction, providing insights aligned with global TotalEnergies priorities.

 

Interaction Scope: GGIP and external stakeholders (Ministry of Oil (MoO), SOMO, NOCs, consultants, etc.).

 

Impact: Contributes to JV governance processes, supports negotiations, and strengthens strategic positioning within Iraq’s energy market, while providing insights that inform global decision-making..
