Are you an experienced legal professional with a strong background in corporate advisory and regulatory compliance within the upstream Oil & Gas industry? We are seeking a dynamic Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support and ensure compliance across TotalEnergies’ operations in Malaysia.

Activities

Your Impact

As a key member of the Legal team, you will:

  • Provide strategic legal advice on all matters related to TotalEnergies’ business and operations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts, including procurement and commercial agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian laws, PETRONAS directives, and international standards.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes impacting upstream oil & gas operations.
  • Manage disputes and litigation, including coordination with external counsel.
  • Lead insurance-related matters, including placements and claims.
  • Deliver legal awareness training and support continuous improvement of legal processes.

Candidate Profile

What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university; admission to the Malaysian Bar is an advantage.
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate legal advisory, compliance, and contract negotiation within Oil & Gas or Energy sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial law, PETRONAS regulations, Malaysian corporate laws, and international legal standards.
  • Strong experience in dispute resolution, litigation management, and engagement with external counsel.
  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a dynamic environment.
