Context & Environment

The prediction and understanding of dynamic flow behaviour in fractured reservoir requires an integrated approach from seismic and borehole data along with dynamic data to date in the case of producing fields. However, the uncertainties involved in bridging the scale gap from well to seismic, and upscaling from well to the size of a reservoir model grid cell, require the use of concept fracture models stemming directly from geological fieldwork via outcrop analogues to the fields. The advent of drone-based technologies for outcrop image acquisition field analogues has accelerated and increased the efficiency of the construction and use of digital outcrop models, none so more than in the case of fractured and faulted fields. In particular, the digital interpretation of fracture / fault networks and exporting them into dedicated software for modelling has become a much more integrated process. In order to capitalise on these relatively recent technological developments, we propose a project construct a digital outcrop model for in-house training and analogue building in structural geology for producing fractured reservoirs.

Activities

As a Digital Outcrop Models for Fractured Reservoir Analogues – Beginner (M/F), your missions will be:

  • An interpretation of the fracture/fault network in the digital outcrop model
  • The transfer to the virtual reality project, integration of ground-based statistics, and construction of a conceptual fracture model
  • Also contribute to the capitalization of the model for internal training purposes
