TotalEnergies Atlantic Trading & Marketing, Inc. is looking for a sharp, agile, and business-minded Lead Legal Counsel to join our high-performing legal team supporting our global crude oil and refined products trading operations. The position reports to ATMI President & CEO, with functional reporting to Trading & Shipping Vice President Legal.


What You’ll Do

As Lead Legal Counsel, you’ll be at the heart of our trading and business development activities in the Americas, providing strategic legal guidance that drives commercial success. You will:

  • Advise senior leadership, traders, and developers on legal and regulatory matters across crude oil, refined products, and midstream operations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements in support of trading and infrastructure initiatives.
  • Ensure legal integrity of trade execution, including compliance with U.S. regulations such as the Jones Act.
  • Lead legal strategy for pre-litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Structure and negotiate new ventures, structured finance, and project development deals.
  • Oversee corporate governance across TotalEnergies Atlantic Trading & Marketing, Inc.

Candidate Profile

What Sets You Apart

  • J.D. degree with 8+ years of legal experience in the oil & gas sector.
  • Deep understanding of trading contracts, logistics, shipping, and risk management.
  • Expertise in U.S. commodities regulations, maritime law, and corporate governance.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and deliver timely, actionable legal solutions in a dynamic trading environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
