Context & Environment

The TGP/JUR entity provides legal support for the drafting, negotiation, implementation, and management of goods and services purchase contracts to comply with legal requirements. The Legal Division helps improve procurement by simplifying and standardizing contractual conditions for suppliers.

The entity advises and assists the Projects and Equipment Purchasing Division on various international procurement categories. It also assists in significant litigation cases.

The projects are cross-functional and require consideration of various rules in coordination with the company's specialized lawyers (HSE, corruption, competition, IP, economic sanctions, compliance, personal data, etc.). Managing these complex cases involves significant financial stakes.

Activities

The Projects and Equipment Purchasing department lawyer deals with all types of subjects related to the purchasing categories such as:

  • Preparing, drafting and negotiating contracts for the purchase of goods and services of all types in collaboration with other departments and contract engineers.
  • Conducting a legal risk analysis and participating in the definition of the contractual strategy, issuing recommendations and proposing solutions to best promote the interests of the Company.
  • Providing legal support to contract engineers in the Projects and Equipment Purchasing Division during the implementation of key contracts. Also providing legal assistance required in post-signature contract management (eg. contract interpretation and pre-litigation and litigation).
  • Proactivity and participation in the creation, implementation, deployment and improvement of skills, legal tools, best practices and contractual standards within the framework (or in addition to) of the policies put in place by TGP's legal division.
  • Participating in the development of educational tools and conducting training for lawyers, buyers and others as relevant.
  • Implementing the Company's policies and rules relevant to contracts for the purchase of goods and services.
