This role interfaces with several internal departments (Front-Office, Middle-Office and Risk, Derivatives Operations, Legal, IT…) and requires coordination with other branches (Total Gas & Power, Total Treasury). 

Activities

We are looking for our new Compliance Officer to join our team based in Geneva. The Compliance team is dedicated to contribute to the protection of T&S by helping to ensure that its activities are in accordance with the applicable laws and internal rules relating to anti-corruption and antitrust.
 

What you will do:
 
Reporting to Branch Market Compliance Officer (“BMCO”), and working to the highest standards of work ethic, your main missions will be to:
  

COMPLIANCE MONITORING 

• Monitor and analyse T&S’s activities on financial and physical markets (daily trade surveillance, weekly reports…)

• Ensure T&S’s activities and processes are in line with applicable financial regulations as well as Company trading policies.

• Inform Management, Trading and other personnel of applicability of Regulations to specific business activities.   

• Monitor and analyse any relevant regulatory change and its impact to the company. Formulate practical responses to industry-wide issues.

• Coordinate responses to external inquiries regarding trading activities.

• Follow compliance indicators.

 

 COMPLIANCE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT 

• Collaborate and share best practices with Market Compliance team.

• Seize opportunities of creating efficiencies and improving processes.

• Work with Management, Risk Control, Trading and Legal to identify improvements to the way Market Compliance is organised and to internal controls relating to trading and related activities. 

• Imagine and develop new tools to improve internal controls and enhance reliability of our monitoring systems.

 

COMPLIANCE CORPORATE CULTURE 

• Periodically train Company staff on compliance requirements and T&S’s standards, policies and procedures related to trading compliance.

• Ensure employee awareness of applicable financial regulations.

• Create and implement Compliance training programs for traders

• Contribute to ensuring a robust culture of compliance with legal requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • The ideal candidate would have a Master degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in  trading industry with a good understanding of the financial commodities markets (including futures, options and swaps).
  • A previous experience in the trading industry would be a considerable advantage to understand the T&S activities, organisation and systems with particular emphasis on compliance rules and control.
  • This position requires excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills, in English and French, with the ability to apply these skills at all levels of the organization as well as strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to adopt a variety of team building and communication approaches to achieve desired results.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to build consensus with diverse stakeholders, and strong problem-solving skills with aptitude to see the next step and follow through on operational detail.
  • Working in our team requires entrepreneurial spirit, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, proactivity, autonomy and the ability to learn new skills quickly in a fast-paced and exciting work environment.
