Context & Environment

  • TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 serves as the operator for Africa’s largest privately financed project of $20 Billion (over 5 years) - 12.88 MTPA from 2 Initial Trains - 25-year production – 5 fields of which Golfinho Atum under development and scalable expansions from Prosperidade.
  • Patrimonial structure of the MzLNG Project consists in 11 legal entities acquired from Anadarko + 2 additional ones which modified the initial project structure and introduced new agreements.
  • Complex and multi layered contractual environment most of which first of its kind in the Country. Binding agreements and complex covenants (JOA, PSC, EPCC, Legal and commercial agreements, MOUs, etc.). Several interfaces with multiple stakeholders across métiers, affiliates, and external parties.
  • The activities are performed in a multifunctional environment which is subject to change (in safety, economics, monetary, tax and labor regulations).
  • High-level of reporting requirements and significant scrutiny of the financial information of the MzLNG Project from Government, Lenders, Partners, Shareholders and Auditors resulting in added/high pressure to meet multiple deadlines without compromising the accuracy

Activities

Internal Audit
  • Identify and assess areas of significant risks based on:
  1. The TEPMA1 risk mapping
  2. The specific themes and concerns raised by E&P that are applicable to TEPMA1
  3. The analysis of SOX controls and audit findings from previous years.
  • Propose the TEPMA1 internal audit plan based on the significant risks of the affiliate, and ensure that this plan is shared with, and agreed by, all relevant Company stakeholders.
  • Implement the validated internal audit plan and conduct ad hoc investigations into identified or reported risks.
Internal Control
  • Provide all inputs necessary for the annual update of the Sarbanes-Oxley Risk & Control Matrix and other SOX activities.
  • Perform and document Sarbanes-Oxley tests using the E&P Internal Control tools and assist the IC&A department in identifying and reducing business and financial risks through effective implementation and monitoring of controls.
  • Raise awareness and promote the culture of Risk Management and Internal Control within TEPMA1.
Monitoring and Reporting 
  • Consolidate and monitor the implementation of action plans deriving from:
  1. Internal audits along with the several Sarbanes-Oxley activities, i.e., annual questionnaire on equity-accounted associates (aka “SME questionnaire”), annual entity-level control self-assessment (aka “ELC questionnaire”), annual activity-level control campaigns (aka “SOX controls”), including recommendations from statutory auditors.
  2. The various audits received at TEPMA1, e.g., JV audits, Statutory audits, HSE audits, Security audits, etc.
  • Prepare the quarterly Internal Control & Audit Committee and ensure that complete, accurate and timely monitoring information is reported to relevant TEPMA1 management bodies.



Candidate Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related field.
  • Be a Certified Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or other professional certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Sarbanes-Oxley or other internal control standards, internal and/or external audit, risk management. Good understanding of Oil & Gas business and operational processes with particular relevance to its applicable regulatory requirements and accounting procedures.
  • Good knowledge of TotalEnergies SAP systems.
  • Enhanced verbal and written communication skills, organization, autonomy and drive, patience, humility, and persistence
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks against deadlines and work collaboratively as part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
  • Openness to continuous learning.
  • Fluent in Portuguese & English.
