Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the design, selection, configuration, maintenance, and documentation for all electrical systems at the ECU.

Assist plant maintenance groups in troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and systems.

Provide electrical engineering services for ECU capital and expense projects to ensure quality installations that meet ECU standards.

Develop and/or update existing electrical engineering standards and establish guidelines for preventative and predictive maintenance activities.

Work closely with the public utility to ensure that the electrical system providing power to the ECU is reliable.

Serve as the technical power expert for the ECU complex, providing guidance and direction to the management team in all matters of electrical importance.

Communicate effectively about electrical issues to other technical and non-technical personnel to ensure a thorough understanding of any electrical power issues.



Cross-Training in Instrumentation:

Participate in cross-training programs to gain proficiency in instrumentation systems and practices.

Learn to Assist in the design, selection, configuration, maintenance, and documentation for instrumentation systems at the ECU.

Work closely with instrumentation engineers and technicians to understand and support the integration of electrical and instrumentation systems.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of instrumentation standards and guidelines, including ISA standards.

Develop the ability to Support the troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation equipment and systems in collaboration with the instrumentation team.

Provide input on instrumentation-related projects and initiatives to ensure seamless integration with electrical systems.

Candidate Profile

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in a petrochemical facility.
  • Knowledge and experience in ISA, ANSI, NEC, NESC, IEEE, and OSHA 1910 standards as they apply to electrical equipment and safe work practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of SEL, Multilin, and Basler Relays.
  • Strong working knowledge of SKM software to perform short circuit analysis, motor starting studies, and arc flash studies.
  • Experience in the application of protective relaying.
  • Experience in the design and troubleshooting of electrical switchgear and controls for voltages from 480V to transmission voltages.
  • Knowledge in the repair and control of both induction and synchronous motors.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the use and interpretation of data collected with standard electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to lead by example, logical problem-solving skills, works well in a team environment, and able to manage multiple/changing priorities.
