Context & Environment

Are you an experienced development engineer with strong capabilities in front-end engineering, project maturation, and multi-disciplinary coordination within upstream oil and gas projects?

 

TotalEnergies EP Malaysia is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to lead and integrate development studies across a portfolio of greenfield, brownfield, and decommissioning projects. This position plays a key role in progressing projects from feasibility through to concept selection and pre-project phases, ensuring alignment with technical, economic, and regulatory requirements.

Activities

Your Impact

As a Senior Development Engineer, you will:

  • Lead development studies across feasibility, conceptual, and pre-project phases, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and financial objectives.
  • Integrate inputs from subsurface, engineering, operations, contracting, cost, and planning to deliver optimised and technically robust development concepts.
  • Oversee structured study processes and ensure compliance with internal governance, including peer reviews and project assurance requirements.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, both internal and external, to drive efficient project maturation up to FEED and sanction.
  • Develop and manage cost estimates, planning milestones, and long-term development plans, including submissions to regulatory authorities such as PETRONAS.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, Malaysian regulatory requirements, and relevant technical frameworks.
  • Support asset optimisation, cost efficiency, and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction initiatives.

Candidate Profile

What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Engineering, registered with BEM.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, including exposure to front-end development studies and project maturation phases.
  • Strong expertise in feasibility studies, concept engineering, development planning, and cost estimation.
  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering projects up to FEED or execution phases.
  • Familiarity with PETRONAS governing standards and Malaysian regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in complex project environments.
