Activities

We are seeking to hire a Risk Assessment Engineer at the La Porte Polypropylene Plant in La Porte, Texas.  This position is responsible for:  

  • Oversight of process safety for risk assessments. HAZOPS, LOPA’s FMEA, QRA’s etc.
  • Ensure all MOC’s are receiving the appropriate level of risk assessment. 
  • Coordinate and or conduct all the relevant PSI to be used in PHA’s and other hazard assessment studies. 
  • Lead and or participate in PHA’s and perform all necessary risk modeling for PHA studies, perform LOPA’s and determine SIL levels. 
  • Coordinate or conduct all capital review studies related to process safety. 
  • Oversee the technical development of a risk assessment program for the LBU. 
  • Assist in the development of the SIS Life Cycle Program for the LBU and RPA. 
  • Coordinate and conduct facility siting evaluations for the LBU. 
  • Coordinate the development of the Safety Environment Critical Measures (SECM’s) for the LBU. 
  • Coordinate and or conduct all process safety training for LBU and RPA personnel. 
  • Participate in all LBU process safety and RMP audits.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree. Knowledge in engineering, preferably in Chemical or Safety.  
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Refining, Petrochemical, or Specialty Chemical manufacturing. 
  • At least 3 years in various unit operations within an operating plant is desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge of risk management concepts
  • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge with the ability to master risk assessment software applications

  • This is a straight day position – generally Monday through Friday with possible weekend work depending on shift schedules, maintenance and plant needs.
  • Internal contacts include managers, supervisors and hourly staff internal and external to the site. 
  • Position requires precise communication skills, good inter-departmental working relationships to ensure site, RPA and regulatory requirements are met for current and future operations.
  • External contacts include other RPA personnel, regulatory agencies, contractors, community, TCC/ACC, industry work groups. 
  • Act as the process safety representative.
