Context & Environment

The team consists of 4 permanent staff working in the field of separative sciences coupled with mass spectrometry.  The team is also involved in the international joint laboratory Complex Matrices Molecular Caracterization (iC2MC) and in the Réseau Analytique Groupe. 

Activities

Missions 

In terms of achievements in the CMS laboratory:

  • To ensure that analytical work is carried out to meet the needs and expectations of the R&D Programmes, 
  • Propose and carry out exploratory research, 
  • Propose and monitor university or cooperative research, 
  • Monitor technological and scientific developments, 
  • Master and apply analytical methods, 
  • Acting as an expert in various French or international standardisation bodies concerning the development of characterisation methods. 
  • Communicate on research topics related to the work carried out (symposia, conferences, publications). 
  • Where appropriate, act as analytical correspondent for an R&D Programme/Theme. 

Management: 

  • Manage and support a team of three engineers and, where necessary, ‘school trainees’ (DUT to Post-doctorate) and temporary reinforcements (service providers, temps), 
  • Implementing the governance systems and manuals for the ‘Downstream Process & Polymers’ R&D line and the Feluy site (TOTB), within the scope of the hierarchy.  
  • Manage the Health, Safety, Quality and Environment systems within the laboratory. 
  • Ensure the planning and execution of analytical services in its field, 
  • Guarantee results and ensure their publication, 
  • Ensuring the traceability of the laboratory's technical activity, 
  • Propose investment and operating budgets for the laboratory, 
  • Maintaining and upgrading the laboratory's equipment, 
  • Propose training programmes for the team and manage skills, 
  • Maintaining regular communication with the Company's other analytical laboratories through the Group Analytical Network. 

Candidate Profile


  • You have a PhD in chemistry with at least 5/7 years' experience. 
  • You have a good command of the theoretical and practical aspects of one or more analytical techniques in the field of chromatography and mass spectrometry, in particular two-dimensional techniques, alternative injection methods (technical desorption, pressurised liquid injection, headspace, pyrolysis).  
  • Knowledge of preparative methods (solid/liquid extraction, etc.) and GC-MS quantification methods is a major advantage.  
  • A good knowledge of the Processes and Products aspects surrounding the analytical service request is a plus. 
  • You are able to manage a team and have previous experience of team management. 
  • You are fluent in French and English.
