The environment posses challenges in the management of costs of projects due to frequent increase in the cost of construction materials.
Projects do not have to be unduly delayed to prevent such extra cost issues.
There is also a challenge in the quality of contractors available or use on projects.
Most contractors available lack the due requisite experience, equipment and the financial capacity to execute project and therefore require financial assistance in the form of progressive payments and regular supervision.
Another challenge is the difficulties in getting Approval from the regulatory and government agencies.
The bureaucratic manner in which they work delays permits for project implementation.
The job holder is responsible for the execution of new investment/projects on the Existing sites and construction of new Network Station as directed by Projects Engineering Manager.
Other responsibilities include;
* Prepares Design Drawings, Specifications and Bill of Quantities and other related tender documents.
* Evaluates bids by contractors.
* Supervises the construction works (civil, electrical, mechanical, painting plumbing etc).
* Ensures the quality, safety and environmental standards are adhered to.
* Organises training sessions for construction and metalworks contractors in company procedures, work methods and safety regulations.
* Ensures all statutory and regulatory permits are obtained for all new projects
* Responsible for all safety, health and environment related issues, training and program implementation.
Candidate profile
* Good technical background and with a degree in Civil or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Second Class upper minimum).
* Good management technique in handling third party/contractors.
* Good organizational skills.
* Good communication skills
* Proficiency in MS office applications, word, Excel, power point, AutoCAD.
