Context & Environment

A Trading Operator operates in a high intensity trading environment requiring 24/7 responsiveness.

Work is event driven, with fluctuating workloads depending on market activity, operational incidents, and execution timelines.

Flexibility, reliability, and strong coordination within the operations team are essential to ensure business continuity.

Activities

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Products Trading Operator to join our Asia Pacific Trading Operations team in Singapore. As the key operational link between our trading teams in Singapore, Geneva, and Dubai, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless execution of commercial contracts and the optimisation of logistics across the region.

In this position, you will manage end‑to‑end operations — from drafting commercial contracts to coordinating vessel movements, overseeing storage and blending activities, and safeguarding financial and operational compliance. You will be a central point of contact for multiple internal and external stakeholders, contributing directly to the performance of a team handling over 5,500 contracts annually and supporting a business line with significant commercial and financial impact.

What You Will Do:

Coordinate logistics for all loading/discharging by sea and/or overland, avoiding and mitigating any potential hazardous situations.

Follow up on vessels chartered by the company (spot, COA, or T/C) and optimize rotations and loading plans.

Nominate essential service providers (independent inspectors, loss controllers, additive suppliers, etc.) and ensure the accuracy and consistency of the results obtained.

Diligently manage storage and process contracts (quantities, qualities, financial exposure, customs, etc.).

Identify the cause of any operational problems encountered and ensure resolution through coordination with all affected stakeholders, mitigating costs and consequences for the company.

Obtain financial guarantees from counterparties, control and/or amend them before cargo loading/unloading, in conjunction with the Credit department.

Evaluate all costs derived from transactions and communicate all operational data having a financial impact on trading results (prices, hedges, freight, currency, etc.).

Verify the coherence and feasibility of trading negotiations and formalize commercial contracts.

Submit damage reports to insurers and compile and follow claim files.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory aspects (REACH, Customs, VAT, etc.) in collaboration with respective support departments.

Ensure compliance with vetting procedures for seagoing vessels and barges.

Adhere to HSE, Code of Conduct, Business Integrity, and all other applicable company policies and procedures at all times.

Manage the invoicing and payment process and recovery of funds when applicable.

Where applicable to the role, manage and optimize equity lifting by having an in-depth understanding of Lifting Agreements and Terminal Procedures, including Availabilities, Payment Quantities, etc.

Candidate Profile

You hold a Bachelor’s or Master's degree and have at least 6 years of experience in physical trading operations.

You have proven experience managing end-to-end trade execution with a high level of autonomy.

Blending knowledge would be an advantage and a team player with strong initiative.

You have knowledge, interest, and curiosity in the energy/trading business and are willing to learn.

You enjoy facing challenges and have a strong sense of commitment and flexibility.

You have a good commercial instinct, a solution-oriented attitude, and demonstrate a genuine team spirit.

Rigorous in your approach, you meticulously plan and organize your work, enabling you to thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment and work under time pressure.

You proactively look for areas of development and do not hesitate to initiate new ideas or ways of doing things.

You have strong learning agility, particularly in adapting to new systems and processes.

You have excellent proficiency in English and an additional language (eg. Mandarin)

We encourage motivated and curious individuals to apply and take part in shaping the future of trading operations at TotalEnergies.
