Context & Environment

As a member of the TotalEnergies E&P USA, Inc. Land group, the Land Advisor - Offshore position works with the Business, Exploration, Subsurface and Finance métiers within the organization as well as act as liaison with partners, government entities such as BOEM/BSEE, 3rd party companies and land/royalty owners.  Job responsibilities include all land aspects involved in assigned projects: evaluation, team participation, obtaining project approval, executing plans, and the timely conclusion of projects to the appropriate closure.  

 Activities:
 
  • Act as primary contact for all operator and partner relations, government entities (such as BOEM/BSEE) and owner relations, and 3rd party communications; duties include: acting as company representative at government or partner meetings, liaising with internal stakeholders, contract analysis, negotiation of positions with partners, maintaining TotalEnergies’ position via the contracts and leases, providing notices, and general commercial oversight of assets 
  • Commercial/Land support to Exploration and Asset Managers; act as lead on negotiation of land and lease exchanges/operating agreements/JV agreements/farm ins and farmouts for offshore assets
  • Identify new opportunities and act as conduit for review of opportunities; duties include negotiation of Confidentiality Agreements, data room attendance and analysis of opportunities 
  • Aid Exploration in offshore Lease Sale participation, prepare and deliver to BOEM all bids and associated documents, provide competitor analysis, identify potential joint bid partners and act as lead on joint bid discussions
  • Notify operations personnel of all upcoming lease obligations; participate in determining contractual provision of various agreements contributing to the disposition of each obligation; monitor continuous development obligations for leases
  • Organize and participate in multi-disciplinary team in evaluation of potential business opportunities and new business pertinent to the Assets
  • Ensure proper lease maintenance through timely payments, and monitoring of obligations; work with Finance to ensure payments made
  • Act as liaison with multitude of other departments and work collaboratively with members of other disciplines

Activities

Land Advisor provides US commercial/land support to Business, Exploration and Asset Managers.  Organizes and participates in multi-disciplinary teams in evaluation of potential business opportunities; Acts as the primary contact for certain government agencies; Represents the Company at the Offshore Oil Scouts Association meetings and in data rooms viewing new opportunities.

 It is fast paced, dynamic environment. Working with the Land team supporting non-operated offshore assets


Candidate Profile

Education/Experience:

    • 5+ years of U.S. offshore oil and gas land experience
    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or other related field; preference given to Juris Doctorate

Skills:

  • Experience with land and accounting software products 
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction 
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills 
  • Ability to make verbal and visual presentations to management detailing land aspects involved in operational issues 
  • Proven experience working onshore US building a network of oil and gas professionals which help drive organizational opportunities
