As Fisheries Liaison this is a field position, expected to spend majority of time working in field travelling regularly across New York, New Jersey, and other states to engage with the fishing community and related stakeholders with ability to periodically report to NYC project office. The anticipated hourly range for this position is $50 - $55. Compensation packages are based on experience, qualifications, and market.

Activities

Business Unit:

  • Lead communication between Attentive Energy and fishing community representatives to ensure timely distribution of information and promote transparent and frequent information sharing.
  • Develop and execute plans for external engagement and direct communication with fishermen, fishing communities, and related fishing businesses, including extensive regional travel.
  • Gather fishing-related inputs and information to support strategies and best management practices for Attentive Energy that promote coexistence between offshore wind project development and fishing activities.
  • Develop strategies and creative solutions to mitigate potential adverse project impacts based on fisheries-related stakeholder input and knowledge of local fisheries.
  • Identify, attend, and represent Attentive Energy at open houses, conferences, trade shows, and other events to enhance dialogue with mariner and fishing communities.
  • Report to the NYC project office and travel regularly across New York, New Jersey, and other states to engage with the fishing community and related stakeholders.
  • Maintain records of engagement, meetings, and other events for reporting to state and federal authorities.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience, minimum 10 years preferred, in issues related to commercial and recreational fishing, with a deep understanding of commercial fishing methods, gear, industry challenges, and regulatory management processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in fisheries management/science, biology, marine science/oceanography, or marine environment/conservation preferred but not necessary if candidate can demonstrate equitable fishing and/or fisheries management experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with industry representatives and fishing groups, including writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills that resonate with audiences of different backgrounds.
  • Ability to review regulations, scientific studies, formal research, and other fisheries materials to inform fishing-related outreach, strategies, planning, and answer questions about fisheries interactions.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with state and federal rules and regulations relating to marine resources and fisheries management.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the development of offshore wind projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain relationships with key stakeholder groups.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently, multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, MS Word, and PowerPoint.

We are developing the Attentive Energy projects in the New York Bight with a combined capacity of 3 GW and the Carolina Long Bay project with a capacity of approximately 1.2 GW. Role Overview:

As a Fisheries Liaison Contractor, you will spend the majority of your time in the field, traveling regularly to engage with the fishing community and related stakeholders. Your role will involve leading communication efforts, developing engagement plans, and ensuring transparent information sharing between Attentive Energy and the fishing community.
