Activities

    • Install, maintain, repair, calibrate and test a wide variety of industrial instruments that record, indicate, control and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature, position, and water analysis at the LaPorte Polypropylene Plant.
    • Troubleshoot process controller hardware and maintain a functional knowledge of the operation of the telemetry system hardware and software.
    • Perform preventative maintenance inspections of all metering control instruments, diagnosing existing or potential trouble; clean, lubricate, calibrate, and adjust as conditions indicate.
    • Install and place into service new metering, controlling and recording devices, calibrating as required; may extend or connect related electrical circuits.
    • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and specifications in making installations or performing major repair work.
    • May make estimates of labor, materials, and supplies as necessary for the performance of specific assignments.
    • Keep records; make verbal and written reports of work performed.
    • Troubleshoot telemetry and PLC software and hardware, make recommendations and perform software changes, maintain documentation of changes to the software and hardware.
    • May direct the work of others on specific projects, and coach and train less-experienced instrument Technicians and others on the procedures of the work.
    • Perform the repairs and testing work requiring higher-level knowledge, skills, and abilities, and serve as a technical resource to others.
    • HSE responsibilities include - Understanding, supporting, and compliance with all site policies, procedures and applicable regulations; conducting applicable safety activities, including inspections and audits as assigned; completion of assigned HSE action items; and completion of regulatory and other required training.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
    • Responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

Candidate Profile

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Basic mechanical skills (training or experience with polymer or chemical processing equipment, forklift operation, testing equipment, or skills in mechanical or electrical crafts are advantageous).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to comply with all of the Safety regulations of the position.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule for limited overtime and weekends as needed. 
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of this position.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to read and work from P&I flow diagrams, instrument loop drawings, electrical control drawings and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and callouts as required.
  • Must be willing to work rotating workdays or shifts as required.
