TotalEnergies is strengthening its thermal and combustion engineering capabilities to address the challenges of the energy transition.
The actions carried out in this role will have a direct and positive impact on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Within the Technology Technical Line of OneTech, TotalEnergies’ scientific and engineering branch, you will provide expertise across all Company businesses — from technology R&D programs to operational support of assets, including assistance throughout all project phases (new projects and revamping).

? Working Environment

• Contribution to the technology reference framework for thermal and combustion equipment (General Specifications, Guidelines and Manuals),
• In close cooperation with Corporate Procurement, leading the qualification of new suppliers,
• Integration into a team of around 20 specialists, operating in a truly international environment (over 130 countries),
• Strong interaction with process engineering, piping, valves, pressure equipment, corrosion & materials, instrumentation, rotating equipment and electrical disciplines.

🔎 Technology Scope

• Refineries, petrochemicals, polymers, offshore & onshore facilities
• Process furnaces, steam boilers, burners, thermal oil heaters, oxidizers, flares
• Waste heat recovery on gas turbines & combined cycles
• Low‑carbon combustion: hydrogen, ammonia, biomass, oxy‑combustion, CO₂ capture
• Low‑NOx combustion
• Electric boilers & heaters

🛠️ Main Responsibilities

1. Technology Research & Development

• Develop and steer technologies aimed at CO₂ emission reduction
• Work on hydrogen, ammonia, biomass, oxy‑combustion, CO₂ capture, heat‑to‑power conversion and renewables

2. Early Project Phases

• Recommend optimal thermal designs
• Propose decarbonization solutions: heat recovery, electrification, low‑carbon fuels, CO₂ capture

3. Project Execution

• Support project engineering in the specification and design of thermal equipment
• Participate in design reviews, supplier clarifications, inspections and manufacturing follow‑up

4. Operational Support

• Ensure availability, reliability and energy efficiency of equipment
• Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, technical recommendations and lessons learned

5. Additional Activities

• Technical qualification of suppliers
• Participation in international standardization and technology watch
• Drafting and updating the technical reference framework
• Contribution to internal training programs

🎓 Profile Required

Technical Skills

• Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in thermal engineering and combustion
• Strong knowledge of API, ISO, ASME, NFPA codes and standards
• Ability to operate in an industrial and international environment
• Fluent French and English; Dutch is a plus
• Proven experience in project study phases or operations in the Oil & Gas sector, and in applied R&D for CO₂ emission reduction
