This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the development of TotalEnergies’ 5-Year Strategic Plan for its U.S. Refining and Petrochemicals business. Working under the guidance of the Strategic and Business Development Manager, the intern will help align industrial activity, economic trends, and project pipelines with the company’s long-term ambitions and investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with U.S. refineries and petrochemical plants (both wholly owned and joint ventures), as well as corporate teams including Finance and HR, to gather and validate strategic planning data.
  • Ensure high standards of data quality, version control, and documentation throughout the planning cycle.
  • Prepare and deliver management-ready presentations that communicate interim and final findings to Strategy and Business Development leadership.
  • Support and track action items from Long-Term Planning (LTP) workshops, while enhancing templates and processes for future planning cycles.
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses, translating results into clear, actionable insights.
  • Deliver key outputs such as LTP models, scenario tracking documents, and strategic presentations summarizing analysis and decisions.

Learning & Development Opportunities:

This internship is designed to strengthen essential professional skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Interns will gain hands-on experience in financial and strategic planning within the energy sector, while developing a deeper understanding of TotalEnergies’ business culture, decision-making frameworks, and project governance. Exposure to decarbonization strategies and circular economy principles will further enrich the learning experience.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Basic understanding of financial and economic KPIs, cost curve analysis, and refining/petrochemical industry fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and functions.
