Context & Environment

Ratawi is an onshore field, in a remote area circa 60-90 minutes by land transportation from Basra city. 53 legacy wells already exist. The field produces light or heavy oil from several reservoirs with presence of CO2 and H2S. The major challenges are to ensure a smooth campaign preparation & startup and to develop TotalEnergies within a new affiliate

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adopt and demonstrate exemplarity towards Health, safety and Environment (HSE) rules with associated enforcement and control within his area of responsibility.
  • Ensure Safety specifications for wells and well operations follow company and statutory standards.
  • Prevent major incident (blow out, loss of asset, wells integrity issues) by ensuring that supervisors receive comprehensive instructions to enable carrying out their tasks safely and as per Company Rules requirements.
  • Ensure any hazard or incidents are reported immediately in compliance with TotalEnergies procedures.
  • Participate in crisis response training and take critical role in Emergency Response as part of the D&W Chain of command.
  • Actively participate to HAZID / HAZOP when necessary. Actively participate to derogation and SIMOPS dossiers processes.
  • Actively participate to Risk Assessments on operational options, well remediation and well integrity situations.
  • Support and advise Drilling and Completion Site Supervisors (DCSSV).
  • Supervise all Service Contractors involved in well delivery programs and be the focal point for both planning and execution of associated services – Actively participate to Service Quality Meetings in close collaboration with the Well Construction Team.
  • In close collaboration with the Well Construction Team, assist in the preparation, review and sign-off all D&C Programs.
  • Ensure all Services are performed in a safe manner, as per Company Rules requirements and Industry Standards. Ensure that materials and equipment supplied are free from defects and suitable for their intended purpose. 
  • Review Daily Operation Reports from Work Sites and ensure accuracy and comprehension. Chair morning conference calls.
  • Conduct regular Work Site visits (Routine, Pre-spud meetings, specific operations toolbox talks, Site Audits with appropriate contractors)
  • Develop detailed planning of Drilling and Completion activities.
  • Prepare and initiate contract Call Of / Release Order / Service Order for equipment and personnel
  • Ensure that adequate personnel and technical resources available at worksite for safe and continuous operations
  •  Ensure sufficient spare parts to allow all types and quantities of equipment to be serviced at the required intervals.
  • Weekly Service Companies meetings, operational planning meetings, Logistic Coordination meetings, etc. 
  • Ensure reporting tools are properly and accurately filled-up by DCSSV. Ensure well files and schematics are updated promptly.
  • Liaise with Depts. in charge of the different sites and other Company groups to plan and achieve operations objectives.
  • Ensure Operational cost file is updated for complete and accurate daily operation costs follow-up within the Daily Report
  • In coordination with QAQC team and Lead Completion Eng., ensure completion equipment (sub-assemblies, intervention, and workover tools) are prepared in compliance with referential and industry best practices. Witness preparation when necessary. Intermittently inspect Service Companies’ equipment prior to job implementation.
  • Play a key role in the Drilling Improvement Process for Drilling and Completion operations, capturing lessons learned and improvement initiatives for future operations. Actively participate to ‘Well on Paper’ and other operational meeting exercises.
  • Contribute, review, and sign-off End of Well Reports (EOWR).
  • Ensure support / coaching of Rigs Teams members in all aspects of the work, especially in well planning, failure analysis, work practices and problem solving

Profil der Bewerberin/des Bewerbers

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Drilling, Petroleum, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Drilling and Completion (D&C) operations with a minimum 2 years’ experience as D&C Superintendent with experience on onshore / conventional offshore operations and 8 years of supervision of D&C operations.
  •  H2S management and ESPs (Electrical Submersible Pump) completions is an added advantage
  • Valid IWCF (International Well Control Forum) certificate. Good knowledge of reporting & engineering tools
  • The candidate will undergo a drill cap assessment and must have acceptable results
  • Dynamic, proactive, very organized and details oriented.
  • Excellent knowledge of English language (Oral & Written)
