Kontext & Umgebung

TotalEnergies Gas & Power Trading (TGP) and its affiliates are expanding rapidly as the company accelerates its transition toward power. This growth is driven in large part by the acquisition of diverse energy assets, including wind, solar, battery storage, and CCGTs. For TGP, this translates into a sharp increase in trading volumes, a broader geographical footprint, and an urgent need for process automation — all of which carry significant implications for IT.

Aktivitäten

In this role, you will serve as the subject‑matter expert for energy‑management systems, including physical and short‑term power‑trading platforms and their integration within the broader gas and power trading landscape. You will oversee the architecture and take a leading role in solution design within the energy‑management perimeter, ensuring effective execution. The environment will involve an optimal mix of in‑house developments and third‑party systems. As TotalEnergies continues to expand its gas and power activities—particularly in support of the company’s transition to power—you will also contribute to a major ongoing transformation program.

Ensure the effective architecture, integration, and governance of energy‑management and trading IT systems, with a strong focus on compliance, security, and alignment with global standards. Lead solution design, guide delivery teams, and advise on technology choices while supporting major transformation initiatives across the power and gas trading landscape. Contribute to project activities and ensure that all developments meet regulatory, legal, and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce local and global IT standards across cybersecurity, governance, architectural design, and scalability.
  • Oversee and own the architecture and transition‑to‑run activities for new projects within the energy‑systems perimeter.
  • Contribute to the design and enhancement of new and existing system interfaces.
  • Take a lead or advisory role in energy‑management projects and contribute as needed.
  • Advise on and manage the integration of systems within the power‑trading and energy‑management environment.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand complex requirements and recommend IT and business solutions, balancing global and regional needs.
  • Collaborate and align with Technology Experts and Tech Leads across Trading IT on cross‑domain design and implementation initiatives.
  • Coach analysts, developers, and application engineers to ensure adherence to standards and effective knowledge transfer.
  • Work closely with IT delivery teams, providing input and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
  • Support procurement initiatives by contributing to solution design, requirements definition, and contract drafting with third‑party vendors.
  • Apply architectural, security, design, and other relevant Trading IT standards, including those related to cloud migration.
  • Ensure all development and related activities comply with legal, regulatory, and audit requirements, including SOX, FERC, and NERC.

Profil der Bewerberin/des Bewerbers

  • 10+ years of experience as an IT Architect, Trading Technology Advisor, Lead Developer, or Subject Matter Expert.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. power trading and energy‑management systems, with hands‑on experience in a trading environment.
  • Strong, well‑rounded knowledge of IT and software integration/development, along with experience in project management, architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), and software‑development methodologies.
  • Expertise in cloud and integration technologies is preferred; experience with contract management and procurement is also desirable.
  • Proven ability to define an architectural vision, design complex IT solutions, and mentor others.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or a related technology discipline.

About the company:

TotalEnergies is a multi-energy company that produces and markets energies on a global scale: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables and electricity. Our 105,000 employees are committed to energy that is ever more affordable, clean, reliable and accessible to as many people as possible. Active in more than 130 countries, TotalEnergies puts sustainable development in all its dimensions at the heart of its projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of people.

TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) is the trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low carbon energies (mainly gas, LNG and power). As such it operates in fast-evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution. Uncertainties specific to the trading environment (volatility of prices, supply & demand mismatches) are coupled with those coming from the broader energy sector (climate change policies, changes in the energy mix, developments of new energy sources, etc). In such context TGP helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

Our Culture:

We are committed to meet the energy needs of a growing population while fulfilling our ambition to be a major player in the energy transition. The volatility of the energy trading markets requires excellence in risk management and a culture of innovation.

Our people flourish in an environment that promotes expertise, entrepreneurship spirit, agility and a purpose-driven culture, generating boundless opportunities to learn, grow and achieve collaborative success while ensuring safety in all our operations.

We look for passion, ambition and open-mindedness.
