To support this ambition, the Integrated Power Modeling (IPM) group plays a strategic role in helping TotalEnergies 

become a major player in the electricity sector. Within IPM, a dedicated team focuses on developing advanced energy models to guide the company’s strategic investment decisions.

Aktivitäten

As part of the Power Modeling Team within IPM, you will tackle the complex and critical challenge of capacity expansion modeling.

Capacity expansion is a cornerstone of energy system planning and involves navigating multiple layers of complexity:

 - Technical modeling (e.g., grid constraints, asset and portfolio modelling)

 - Economic modeling (e.g., investment decisions, market behavior)

            - Numerical optimizaion (e.g., solving large-scale, multi-agent problems)

 

The internship will focus on modeling capacity expansion in Europe, with a particular emphasis on agent-based approaches and game-theoretic frameworks (e.g., Cournot, Stackelberg models). The goal is to explore new investment equilibria and decision-making dynamics in competitive electricity markets.

You will evolve within a team of experienced professionals and with a tutor-coach, the reference for your future profession. Individualized support will help you develop your autonomy and lead you to your diploma!

Profil der Bewerberin/des Bewerbers

Currently enrolled in an engineering school or master’s program in the R&D field, are you looking for an 6-month end-of-study internship starting in April 2026?

Do you have knowledge in Applied Mathematics, Optimization, or Energy Systems Modeling? Do you have strong programming skills, preferably in Python? Familiarity with optimization libraries and modeling tools is a plus. You've got strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and capacity for independent research and innovation.

Are you a self-starter, rigorous and a team player? Can you take the initiative?

A professional command of French will be essential for this position. Good writing skills are a plus.
