Activities

  • Evaluate proposed and final regulations to assess and plan for their impact to the La Porte Plant and the La Porte Tech Center.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of documents necessary for the authorization of emissions (permits, amendments, and permit by rules).
  • Responsible to oversee on a daily basis wastewater and potable water programs in compliance with Federal, State and Company regulations, rules, and policies/guidelines.
  • Develop and conduct compliance assurance reviews using a compliance module in order to support Title V compliance certification.
  • Responsible for activities required to maintain and demonstrate regulatory compliance with air, storm water, potable water, solid waste, and wetlands rules.
  • Develop and implement enhancements to emissions calculations for agency and corporate reports (i.e., TRI, AEI, STEERS, Special SIP Emissions Inventories, and HARPE).
  • Develop/conduct environmental training as required. Provide guidance to operations, maintenance and administration to ensure that environmental requirements are communicated.
  • Develop and implement management systems in order to improve the environmental performance.
  • Report all emission event and maintenance, start-up, shutdown activity to TCEQ via web-based computer system (STEERS) as required.
  • Initiate investigations into root cause of emission events and maintenance, start-up, shutdown activity to be used as affirmative defense in demonstrating compliance.
  • Respond to Regulatory Agencies’ (i.e., TCEQ, Harris County, and EPA) inquiries. This includes onsite investigations and preparation of documents in response to request.
  • Loss control responsibilities include: Understanding, supporting and compliance with all plant policies, procedures and applicable regulations; conducting applicable Loss Control Challenge activities, including inspections and audits as assigned; completion of assigned Loss Control action items; and completion of regulatory and other required training.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry or closely related technical field.
  • 3 to 5 years of plant environmental experience.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal air permitting regulations and requirements.
