Candidate Profile

  • You have validated your PhD in analytical chemistry with a specialization in nuclear magnetic resonance
  • You are proficient in French and English
  • Experience: You have at least 3 years of experience (obtained through thesis or post-doc).

You have skills in:

  • Magic-Angle Spinning solid-state NMR spectroscopy
  • Organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and materials
  • Data analysis, automation, and computer programming
  • Laboratory manipulations
  • Mastery of Time-Domain NMR is an advantage

Activities

The Solaize Research Center (CRES) is looking for a post-doctoral researcher who will be responsible for implementing innovative solid-state NMR characterization methodologies on various low-carbon materials of the Company, such as biomass-derived products, lubricants for industry and electric mobility and proton exchange membranes for green hydrogen production.

As a Research Engineer in Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), you will be required to:

  • Ensure high-level research in nuclear magnetic resonance in the characterization of various products and materials
  • Develop and implement innovative analytical methods. These developments can be carried out both at high field for structural characterizations and with Time-Domain NMR at lower field for dynamic characterizations.
  • Conduct technological watch within the scope of your activity
  • Optimize the operation of devices and tools in compliance with HSE rules and costs
  • Respect and enforce regulatory or legal data related to health, safety, and the environment
  • Ensure the industrial property of the results
  • Valorize the results obtained through scientific publications or patents
  • Participate in research projects/sub-projects within OneTech
  • Establish strong interactions with other analysts of the Company, particularly within OneTech and through the Analytical Group Network
  • Master all techniques in nuclear magnetic resonance

Advantages of the position:

  • Very transversal with applications and developments in various R&D Lines of TotalEnergies, in key sectors of its energy transition
  • Dynamic service of about ten people with many links and collaborations with the academic world
  • Strong valorization of scientific work through publications and patents
  • Development of methods on state-of-the-art equipment for industrial research: a new generation 400 MHz High Field spectrometer and a 20 MHz Time-Domain NMR spectrometer.

Context & Environment

To meet its ambitious objectives of the energy transition towards electricity and renewable energies, TotalEnergies' entity, OneTech, combines all the corporate departments providing technical support to our operations and R&D (Exploration & Production, Refining & Chemical, Marketing & Services and Gas, Renewables & Power). With a 3,400-strong workforce, OneTech will be split into three hubs: an industrial hub supporting the Company's expansion in gas, renewables, electricity and carbon emissions reduction; a research & development hub regrouping all TotalEnergies' research activities to anticipate the Company's transformation, by giving priority to the low-carbon mix; and a support hub (HR and finance).

By integrating all the Company's technical and R&D expertise in a single entity, OneTech becomes one of the pillars of TotalEnergies' transformation into a multi-energy company.

TotalEnergies is a global multi-energy company engaged in the production and supply of various forms of energy: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables, and electricity. Its 105,000 employees are committed to providing increasingly affordable, clean, reliable, and accessible energy to a wide audience. Present in over 130 countries, TotalEnergies places sustainability at the core of its projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of communities.
