Candidate Profile

  • Formal education: B.SC. Mechanical Engineering (2.1). 
  • Professional experience (number of years): 10 to 15 years experience with rotating and static equipment preferably with the oil or petrochemical industries. High level of knowledge of mechanical equipment, maintenance systems and methods 
  • Team management skills 
  • Computer literacy is an advantage 
  • Proficiency in English language 

Activities

  • Acts as JV Mechanical Head in absence of formal Mechanical Head. 
  • Provides technical support to the JV sites maintenance teams for rotating equipment, acting as focal technical authority in regard rotating equipment engineering and providing expert technical advice. 
  • Leads and advises the development and planning of rotating equipment modifications and improvement projects, to ensure their safe, cost-effective and timely execution in accordance with established Company standards and specifications. 
  • Reviews and controls the standardization of materials and spare parts for rotating equipment and related systems (as a package). Reviews stock quantities, usage and consumption to minimize the stock value, whilst ensuring that all spare parts are available for routine, defect and shutdown maintenance. 
  • Assists and advises the Mechanical Head in the preparation of budgets, contracts, shutdowns, modifications, warranty claims, vendor mobilization and all other support functions necessary for the efficient running of the mechanical section. 
  • Ensures usage of the CMMS within his domain. 
  • Creates and develops the condition monitoring. Provides the service (through the contractors) of troubleshoots complex or recurring mechanical problems, which require analysis and resolution with the help of other departments, vendors or original equipment manufacturers, and recommends sound and cost-effective solutions. 
  • Defines and monitor implementation of rotating equipment packages preventive and corrective programme. 
  • Propose/Justifies recommendations for the improvement of equipment availability, efficiency and maintainability. 
  • Prepares cause tree failure analysis for equipment breakdown and issue relevant recommendations. 
  • Liaises with vendors and the original equipment manufacturers for all queries regarding maintenance, modifications in rotating equipment fleet, spare parts, drawings and the resolution of technical problems. 
  • Creates Maintenance Equipment Log Book (MELB). Ensures that all drawings, plans, manual and MELB are up to-date and “as built”, and directs draftsmen to carry out all corrections to reflect any alterations, modifications and additions to mechanical equipment systems. 
  • Reviews and checks work completed by rotating equipment contractors, ensures compliance with work satisfactorily completed, makes necessary corrections, and submits to the Head of Mechanic for endorsement and payment processing. 
  • Coaches local staff by establishing methods to improve their technical level and expertise 
  • Follows-up statutory rotating equipment inspection of assets, integrity assurance and certifications

  • Externally to deal with Nigerian partners and equipment's OEM 
  • Oil production platforms are located offshore (40 KM) and Onshore 
  • Subsidiary is in strong phase development. Managing a rapidly aging infrastructure, 
  • Striving to achieve cost saving and best value for money in rotating equipment maintenance activities. 
  • Progress competency level of staff working in rotating equipment section. 
  • Closely monitor developments in relevant local and international business environment.
