Context & Environment

Within the Trading & Shipping (T&S) branch in charge of oil and gas marketing worldwide, the Shipping Performance & Innovation Department aims at developing the technical expertise of the Company and fostering innovation for the transportation at sea of Crude oil, Refined products, Chemicals and LPG....

 

As a shipping expert, you will participate in innovative studies and projects for the business and the Company. You will be part of the TotalEnergies transition and will act to improve energy efficiency.

 

Activities

TotalEnergies is looking for a Marine Project Engineer M/F. You will be responsible for reviewing and validating the technical specifications of vessels, conducting technical and economic studies to evaluate new energy efficiency equipment with a focus on safety and CO2 emission reduction.

Your main missions are the following:
  
  1. Project: 
  * You review, comment and discuss with ship owners, shipyards, Class societies and equipment manufacturers the technical specifications of candidate time-chartered new building vessels (Crude, Product, LPG). 
  * For each project, you select appropriate fuel saving and CO2 reduction equipment by conducting relevant techno-economic studies. 
  * Occasionally, you visit and assess new shipyard selected for the construction of new long-term projects with a focus on quality and HSE.
  
  2. Ships in service: 
  * You monitor the environmental performance of the T&S time-chartered vessels and suggest corrective maintenance operations in concertation with the Shipping Operations team. 
  * You interact with ship-owner to follow the maintenance carried out during dry-docking.
  * You assist the Vetting team for the assessment of structural deficiencies on Spot and Time-chartered vessels and participate to the Vetting owner’s review process.
  
  3. Technological and regulatory watch: 
  * You develop and maintain technological awareness and regular contacts with third party equipment manufacturers with a strong focus on safety, energy efficiency and CO2 emissions reduction. 
  * You maintain a close cooperation with the main IACS class societies and keep regulatory awareness on international and regional regulations with a particular focus on HSE, ship’s operations and design.

 

 
  


  

 

Candidate Profile

* Engineering degree in naval architecture or mechanical engineering or seafarer background
* Minimum 3 years of experience, with a first experience in naval architecture 
* Fluency in English is mandatory. French is a plus
* Frequent short term travels are to be expected
