Activities

Implement and Coordinate HSE Management System activities

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of HSEQ policies in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the HSE Management System, ensuring adherence to Maestro standards frameworks.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve TotalGaz Southern Africa HSEQ Management systems (ONE MAESTRO & MAESTRO Log) and contribute to the setting up and maintenance of a strong HSEQ culture within the company.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement in HSEQ processes, policies, and practices.


Contractor Management

  • Work with procurement and projects team to assess and qualify contractors based on their health, safety, environmental, and quality performance.
  • Review and verify contractor documentation, including safety plans, risk assessments, and relevant certifications, to ensure compliance with safety file and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate the organization's HSE requirements, policies, and expectations to contractors, ensuring they understand and adhere to the established standards
  • Organize and facilitate orientation sessions and HSE training for contractors, emphasizing the specific safety protocols and procedures applicable to the organization's work environment
  • Implement a system for ongoing monitoring of contractors' HSEQ performance throughout the duration of their work. Regularly assess their compliance with established standards
  • Establish clear communication channels between the organization and contractors, fostering an environment of open dialogue regarding safety concerns, updates, and best practices


Incident Investigation

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and other events to determine their root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare investigation reports, safety alert, submit for approval and update the REX trackers.


Emergency Response Planning

  • Prepare the Crisis Room as prescribed in the Procedure for Crisis Management.
  • Execute your responsibilities for Head Office emergency preparedness as per the appointment letter.


Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to HSEQ activities(Non-conformances; events, etc)
  • Prepare month-end reports and data for various committees

Candidate Profile

  • A Professional qualification/certification in HSEQ
  •  Experience in the HSE role - Prior experience in a role related to Health, safety, environment, or quality e.g. Safety Officer.
  • Understanding of Regulatory Requirements - Knowledge of local , regional and national health, safety, environment regulations is crucial.
  • Risk Management Experience – Practical experience in conducting risk assessments and hazard analysis, as well as implementing risk management controls is required.
  • Computer Skills - Proficiency in using relevant software tools for data analysis, reporting and documentation.
