Context & Environment

Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment.  Includes being knowledgeable in the operation, troubleshooting, calibration, preventive maintenance, and quality checks.

Assists with installation of new instruments and implementation of new or changed analytical procedures.

Maintains the calibration and standards programs for the laboratory equipment. Develops test methods and standards of performance necessary to meet Laboratory objectives (including ISO 9001).

Completes reporting requirements as required per the SM/Environmental Lab Supervisor and/or the Environmental Lab Group Leader

Position is responsible for the site's Environmental Laboratory and its day-to-day operation and functionality including overseeing the work activities and assist with training of the Env Lab Technicians.

Position reports to the SM/Environmental Lab Supervisor and works closely with the Environmental Group in carrying out the duties of the position. 

Position has no direct reports.

Activities

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of lab instrumentation and equipment in the Environmental Lab including preventative maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, repairs, and quality checks. 

Provides support to departments in the science of chemistry. 

Maintains calibration and standards programs for the lab equipment. 

Coordinates, performs or assists with special projects and is responsible for performance of routine analyses, housekeeping, and other activities or projects as directed by the SM/Environmental Lab Supervisor.

Candidate Profile

Position requires a B.S. in Chemistry or related technical degree. Minimum experience required of 1-3 years in a similar laboratory setting.
 
Good supervisory skills, computer skills, quality control skills, and lab instrument maintenance skills are beneficial. On call 24 hours per day.
