Context & Environment

The Upstream part of the Lake Albert Development in Uganda consists of development of oil fields, six onshore fields (together known as ‘Tilenga’, operated by TotalEnergies) and an offshore field known as ‘Kingfisher’ operated by CNOOC.  The development of Tilenga requires the drilling, in factory mode, of more than 400 wells from 31 wellpads using 3 drilling rigs. The first oil is planned in 2025-26 with a plateau of 190Kbopd. The production mechanism is water injection from the start and ESP in all the producers to maximize production and ensure cap rock integrity. A Polymer Injection Pre-Development with dedicated monitoring plan will also be deployed at first oil. A massive interwell tracer campaign and incompletion tracer is planned from the first oil date.

Activities

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Display HSE Leadership by always setting an example of high HSEQ standards.
  • In line with the Reservoir Management Plan, prepare the well SOR in close collaboration with the Operation Geology and G&G team and follow the execution.
  • Use elementary techniques of reservoir engineering to interpret the data.
  • Integrate the latest acquired data into a larger context of the field development while working closely with Geologist, Geophysicist and Well Performance engineers and perform dynamic synthesis.
  • Participate in the corporate exercises by generating production profiles. In that context, update the reservoir model based on new findings and perform history match to optimize the development.
  • Once production starts, be responsible for the reservoir monitoring and well surveillance on a specific field. You will be an active member of the Well Performance Group.
  • Provide the necessary Reservoir Engineering support to prepare Tilenga’s first-oil, including planning and execution of the Polymer Injection Pre-Development and the Artificial Tracer campaign.
  • Work closely with Geoinformation team to manage the Reservoir data according to the company standard and in a context of the OSDU data platform, including the acquired data (raw, processed and interpreted), reservoir synthesis reports and simulation models.
  • Propose and build solutions to streamline the reservoir activities, reservoir synthesis, etc.
  • Coordinate activities with Well Performance and Field Operation teams to ensure that the G&R requirements are well understood and integrated in the workflows.
  • Present RE-activities to Partners, Authorities, and HQ in appropriate forums.
  • Visit to the site and supervise the operations related to RE activities.
  • Be abreast of the Kingfisher development activities.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Reservoir or Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as Reservoir Engineer. Autonomous in Reservoir Simulation (Intersect), demonstrated experience in reservoir management and monitoring, well operations, and openness to digitalization.
  • Competencies: open-mindedness, adaptive, ability to communicate freely, decision-making in tight timeline and confident to support his/her decision, results orientation
