The oil and gas, refining and petrochemicals industries are going through a period of deep change as they are confronted to the challenges of climate change and energy transition: societal and environmental commitments, competitiveness in access to affordable low-carbon energy, energy sobriety and efficiency, reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels, and the production of materials decoupled from the exploitation of new oil and gas resources. The use of low-carbon liquid fuels is a high priority for TotalEnergies. 

In the frame of this request for more biofuels, new bio-based feedstocks need to be sourced and transformed into biofuels with similar composition as their fossil equivalent to be used in existing engines. Such biomass transformation requires new catalytic routes to convert the highly oxygenated biomass into hydrocarbon types molecules. 

As a Project manager in catalysis applied to biofuels, the aim of the present project consists in :

• Catalyst preparation at lab scale, 
• Characterisation of the biomass feedstock in collaboration with the analytic department, 
• Testing in bench scale pilot unit the catalytic conversion, 
• Analysing the reaction products, 
• Putting in place the necessary tools for the follow-up of mass balance and catalytic performances 
• Reporting the results to management. 

The project involves also exchanging with universities with which TotalEnergies has collaborations in this field and eventually reproducing experiments from such collaborations in the research of TotalEnergies in Feluy, Belgium.

NB: PERSONAL VEHICLE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

Expected qualifications:

- Chemical engineering degree or PhD in chemistry

Technical skills :

- Practical experience in laboratory work

- Knowledge on catalysis and catalytic conversion

- Good knowledge in chemistry, experimental pilot testing at small scale

- Making material balances

- Reporting experimental test

Computing skills :

- Proficiency in Microsof Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint 

- Experience with modelling tools like Aspen would be a plus

Languages :

- English: level B2/C1

- French: level B2/C1
